A Man of wisdom A Man of faith.

Uncle Vincent was a caring man who was always there for me and others when we needed advice. A Godly man who extended his services to me and my son and opened his doors for us for years. You were an amazing man who was so friendly and welcoming. You had an awesome smile. Our conversations was always pleasant throughout my childhood to adulthood. Your hospitality whenever I'd visit your home is something I'll never forget.

I know and pray the good Lord will keep in his arms the welfare of your family. Much love from Mr Taiwo Damilola Adewuyi and Mrs Ruth Adewuyi xxx

What is life? Vanity upon vanity. I stil can't believe that a great friend is gone. We met when I joined Zenith Club. We quickly establised strong bond and became brothers from different mothers.
Our friendship so strong that I become part of his family and he becomes mine. I can recall when his family organised 60th birthday surprise party for him, I was part of it. On personal ground, his sincere advice is equal to none. His joke always make me happy and laugh away sorry. My friend for ever I will miss you..
You led Zenith Club as president for good two years. Your presidency laid some foundations that we biuld on till today.
I join my family to say goodbye to a great friend. We love you but Goď live you more. Continue to rest in peace. Goodbye.

To be honest I really don't know what to write cos it's painful how death could take someone so kind, loving, jovial and a real Father figure away so soon. For the few times I've been around you was really like being around my own father. All I can say is that you've left a Lagacy that won't be forgotten so soon in your children Wale, Sarah and Samson that would go on for generations to see and emulate. Sleep on daddy till we meet in the place where we shall sleep no more, Heavenly above.
We all join to celebrate your life this day and always.
Shalom!

The first time I saw Daddy Osun was in 2005, he was the President of Zenith Club at the time. He warmly welcomed my family including myself and he introduced his family to us and made us feel at ease. It was noticeable that he enjoyed going to church and was heavily prayerful. He was present at all family celebrations and occasions no matter if they inconvenienced him or were far away. There is an exhaustive list of the qualities he possessed such as being gentle, Vibrant, accommodating and a very generous person. Although I will not here you call me Iya- Aafin here is this world I am grateful to be blessed to know you and be introduced to such an astounding family. You will be missed beyond words can describe but we are thankful for your life therefore we shall celebrate it.

i was not really reasoning it to be real when i heard that you have left the shores of this world. your dearth brought it to my reasoning that this life is not but just a dust. The memory of you keep lingering in my heart , thinking of all the sweet memories we have shared together, the fatherly advice and all. I cant imagine the fact that you are gone cos its a total shock. When i was about to get marry just few months ago before you died, we spoke though, not as sound as it use to be but still at your sick bed you did not cease to advice and motivate me. Is it your financial support?, which of them can i say. I recalled when i was in secondary school you told me to reside multiplication table which i could not recite appropriately , you said i am the best and i can do it, that i held on to and it has then made me stronger in my academic career till today. You may be gone but still the memory of you will still remain fresh in my mind forever. love you daddy. Goodbye.

Day by day, I think of you.
How can all of this be true?
I can’t believe you’re really gone;
I still can’t accept it.
Just the thought of you makes me cry. I never even got the chance to say goodbye.
It makes me think of all of the times we’ve spent. When I visited you in London, you treated me like a baby as well as a queen, thanks for carrying my luggage and treating me with so much respect and care. I will forever be grateful for that.
I will never forget the laughter we shared and the ups and downs we went through together.
I never imagined you’d ever be so far away.
You were my brother,
And I loved you like no other..
In my heart you’ll always be;
You’ll be my guide and help me see. I will never forget your reassuring and calm voice
But now I have to let you rest,
Although without you my world’s a mess.
I miss you with all of my heart.
I wish we never had to part.
I know you’re always by my side,
So now I guess this is my goodbye…
Brother. I will forever love you. Continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ... Rest in Peace my beloved brother.

Saying these words today made me realize that i have truly lost a good part of my heart. Bro Akin i still cant accept your'e gone. Your death came as a shock to me, because the last time we spoke you were still very well and agile, even though you were sick, your words were very encouraging and they kept me going through life. You told me you were getting better and I never imagined that it was just to calm me down. Though you mostly kept news to yourself so as not to bother others, i always just wished you will open up more to people. You took care of not just me but your aged mother, your siblings, children, wife and just everyone around you. It is really sad that i could not thank you enough for all these kind gestures of yours.

I know Mr Osun since 1992 when my husband joined Zenith club. I have always know him as a gentle and cool headed man with his wife. He is very supportive and looks out for people's welfare. Since we moved to our new house Mr Osun has visited us twice just to ensure we are settling down.
Daddy Osun will be greatly missed by Zenith Club's family. Zenith Club will not be the same without him. He was always present at all family celebrations. Mr Osun is very sociable, Vibrant, accommodating and a very generous person. Mr Osun always call me "Olori baba thank you for looking after my friend". It’s with great sadness to hear of the departure of Mr Osun. It is a heartfelt loss which nothing will be able to fulfill, A gap that is left in the Zenith club and in the Osun family. Over the years our friendship has grown into a brotherhood. You’ve witnessed my milestones and I’ve witnessed yours and although you are now absent I will proudly watch your family grow. You’ve contributed emensely to those around you, improved their quality of life and been a strong support. I’m glad I have been able to be that person for you. You will hold a special place in my heart and as God is keeping you I am certain I will see you again.

It was with shock and great sadness that we at St. Olave's (Church of England) Church, received through our Vicar, The Venerable Prebendary Tunde Roberts, the news of the passing into glory of our beloved brother Mr Vincent Osun.
Mr Osun and his wife were faithful, loyal and devoted members of the Church for many years. He actively participated in the many activities that the Church was involved in and worked hard to promote the Kingdom of God here on earth. The late Mr Osun was a co-opted member of the Parochial Church Council (PCC), the governing body of the Church. He actively and positively engaged with the many important issues that the Church faced and dealt with during his time on the PCC.
More importantly, he willingly took on the responsibility of the Church's Harvest Chairman and served in that capacity for his full term of three years from 2013 - 2015. With his wife, he was focused and diligently carried out this task. He engaged and reached out widely and as a result was successful in bringing people along with him.
He was a true and effective leader who led by example and he demonstrated this by dedicating his time and resources as the Chairman of the Harvest Committee. During his tenure, the Harvest Thanksgiving Celebration flourished and moved to a higher and better level. Mr Osun was a man who contributed and gave generously to propagate the Gospel of Christ at St. Olave's Church.
Many of the members remembered him as being friendly, quiet and an easy-going man.
We are grateful to God for the life he lived and for all that we received from him. We pray that he will know the sweetness of God's mercy, in the name of Jesus. May he now enter the fullness of that life Christ won for us with his death.
And, for our dear Mr Osun's wife, children and grandchildren, know that in your helplessness you are not without hope and not without help. God is with you and we urge you to turn to Him, and we pray that as you do, He will strengthen and comfort you. May the Lord keep your hearts and minds in His love and peace.

Lord, give us the certainty that beyond death there is a life where broken things are mended and lost things are found; where there is rest for the weary and joy for the sad; where all that we have loved and willed of good exists, and where we will meet again our loved ones.

Our dear Mr Vincent Osun, continue to rest in the bosom of God your maker and redeemer.

From all at St. Olave's Church.

There was a time we were at your house in ondo state near the pond . As I was preparing to go and tend to the fish , I noticed a leaf and unconsciously said it's botanical name aloud . You looked at me and then told me to repeat what I said . It was really funny and amazing when you started gushing out terms which I've only seen in textbooks (some which I've not even heard of). Though it was only a short while , I learned a great deal about agriculture compared to my school year combined . Anytime I hear that you are back in Nigeria , there's always a good feeling in me cause I know I'm gonna have a lot of good experience with you because you converse with me as if we're equals

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good.
Mr Vincent Osun was a good man.
He always had kind words for anyone he met,he was also always meticulous with his dressing. We admire the fact that his children’s education were a priority to him. He has left a good legacy.
It was indeed a very rude shock when we heard of his passing to glory that early morning.
We became family when our daughter married into the Osun family and we called him Popsie Osun.
We saw him on the Saturday before he passed on and he looked so well, but who are we to question God.
We thank God for a life well spent and we pray that God will strengthen and uphold the entire family and grant them true comfort in Jesus Name.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Akin, as I fondly called you, your death came as a rude shock and a great blow. You left us so soon. But when the inevitable happens, we have to abide by the will of God. The death of a loved one, is not a thing of enthusiasm, but it is appointed unto men once to die, sooner or later. May the Lord give the family left behind the fortitude to bear this great loss.
Goodnight Akin.
May 17, 2021
My wonderful brother Akin, without mincing words, your passing on to glory has created a big vacuum in our family. You are noted for your kind words, assistance, both financially and morally in the family. I remembered when you mobilized financial assistance for a family member on your sick bed. You are never scared to face challenges of life or risky situations, you always fought for what you believed in. I remembered your last words to me (Wo se aburo) meaning thanks my brother prior to this incident.
Egin Akin, you have fought a good fight and you have ended well because of the salvation of your soul. Good night sir, good night to a wonderful man of God, good night to an Icon, good night to a benefactor, good night to a valiant, good night to your gentle smiles, good night to a easy going brother, till we meet to part no more. May the almighty God grant you eternal rest, protect and guide all that you left behind IJMN amen.

It is sad to speak today about Akin Osun. I wish I was speaking at his retirement party instead of his funeral, we all know that life is not fair sometimes. It is sad that Akin was not able to live long enough to see his first daughter getting married. It is with regret that our Millennium Club will be without Akin’s booming voice and rejoicing laugh. Things will not ever be the same.
It is with regret that Mr Osun had left us to God where there will be no sadness, sickness until we all meet again as we Christian believes.
Mr Osun is one of our honourable Millennium members. He is a man you can always rely on. He was noticeably quiet, gentle, and very trustworthy. He was a family man. He worked extremely hard to the end. No one worked harder than Akin. He soiled many seeds; unfortunately, death took him away before he could reap the harvest.
We are missing you and will continuously miss you for exceptionally long time.

Dearest Daddy Osun,

Few weeks on and it’s still so hard to accept the reality of what is but I cannot pass up the opportunity to pay homage to an amazing soul.

I have seen and heard many of your kind acts:

The families you supported, the numerous academic fees you sponsored, couples you supported, the lives you celebrated, the church events/milestones you consistently helped, the hungry mouths you fed and the many you have fathered.

You were a very hard-working man, diligent,  industrious, resourceful and resilient.

You were not given to excuses to settle for less nor did you live a reckless lifestyle.

You loved God passionately in how you knew best and became a rock and a true patriarch.

These testimonies are definitely not far-fetched because I became a witness over the 10+ years of knowing you.

I also see the fruits in the lives your children, in how they nurture those around them and care for the well-being of others, also doing it quietly because wisdom is known of her children.

The apple does not fall far from the tree.

You were there for a lot of people and  genuinely blessed with a large heart.

You gave a lot of yourself to many and I only wish or hope many gave a lot more of themselves to you too.

One thing however is certain, that much more will be given to you where you are right now; in the bosom of the Lord.

As the days go by and reality sets in, when I think of you and the bitter-sweet feeling as I put together this tribute,
I recall Matthew 13:12 of how a mustard tree grows to become a tree so large that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches because that is what you became, a tree that quietly grew to become a refuge for many.

We dearly miss you Sir but we find comfort in Revelations 14:13  saying “ Then I heard a voice from heaven saying [a]to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ”
“Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”

Absence in the body is not absence forever.

Thank you for blessing us with your life, your love and your benevolence.

So whilst we will dearly miss you, we look forward to seeing you again in eternity.

All my love,
Joshua

Dear Uncle,

I was truly saddened to hear about your passing as I considered your family as being a part of mine and my sibling’s childhood growing up also a very close friend to the family. I would always remember you as always being a very humble and friendly man that always had a pleasant energy. Whenever we see each other we would have life conversations, you would always ask me how my studies and work were going then give me supportive advice because you wanted the best for all of us and treated me like family.

You are a great man who raised a wonderful family and thank you for being a part of our lives and what you have contributed in your time here.

I extend my deepest thoughts to the Osun family. God bless you Sir, Rest well in Paradise.

Wow Alagba Osun (like we used to call ourselves)!!

Sola and l were so shocked to learn of your departure. We were aware of your illness and we have been praying and hoping that your complete healing was assured. At some point we heard you were getting better and tried several times to contact you but no response only to then hear that you have gone to be with your Maker.

Our vivid memory of you was that of a gentleman, calm with sense of humour, hardworking, family man, honest, loyal, ever smiling, respectful and above all a god-fearing man.

You have left a vacuum that only God can fill and we pray for the family you left behind that He will grant them the fortitude and grace to bear your demise. The Lord will grant the family peace and calmness on all fronts and remember them at this point of their need.

Till we all meet again at some point may your soul rest in peace Sir. Adieu!!

I am writing this with a heavy heart, but I am consoled by the fact that I know that my uncle, Bra Akin is with the Lord, because he lived a life of kindness, service, selflessness and humility. He is certainly in a peaceful place with no pains, but we will miss the love and care he had for us. His love of people, his dedication and loyalty to family sets him apart from ordinary men. He was a good role model with a heart of gold to all of us.
The last time I spoke with him, he was the one that called, inviting me to join him in helping a family member in Nigeria that needed assistance. I later found out that he was battling his health challenges at the time. That was the kind of man he was, He placed other people ahead of himself. But I was not surprised by his selflessness. I have always teased him of an event that I witnessed at the Ondo Sports Stadium. When he was a senior student at Ondo Boys High School and I, a junior student at SJC. Two policemen were pushing their weights around by manhandling one of his friends, he jumped in, and started fighting with the cops, he was so ferocious that it took two more officers to subdue him. Considering that he was of slight stature then, he had the courage of a lion, he was fearless. Everyone saw him as an easy going and a gentle soul that he was, but not too many saw his warrior side. He was a warrior when it comes to protecting the people he loved or fighting for justice.

We thank God for the privilege of having had him in our lives and in our family.
We loved him, but God loves him more. May the Lord rest his gentle soul in peace

Uncle Akin, words fail me, not even knowing what to write. I am still in the denying of the fact that you are no more with us. Kai, death where is the sting! Lots of good memories of you that I don't even know where to start from but the one that remains ever green in my memory was when I needed your new built mansion in ondo to accommodate my guest who came for my dad's funeral from abroad. You did not hesitate, you even went as far as buying new mattress, ensure there was enough fuel in the generator and added more extras in the house all just for my guest!

You were always the first to be present in any family functions and you always play your fatherly role well. You witnessed and represented my parents on my wedding day by signing the registrar in 1992. Ironically, you also played the same role at my daughters traditional wedding! I can NEVER forget how you stood by me when I was at my lowest ebb.

You have only changed your address to your permanent abode and I am sure you are dining with the saints. You remains treasured in my heart, where you will stay until we meet someday again. Rest in peace Uncle Akin

Ever since I have known you, I have always admired your ability to get people to warm up to you. You touched so many lives and we are proud of your memory!!!

So, till we meet again on the resurrection morning.

Dear Daddy,

You showed me nothing but warmth and kindness from our very first encounter and this continued to be the case every time I was in your presence. Your smile always brightened the room and you welcomed me into the family. Even as your energy levels began to subside, you still found it within you to laugh, joke and enquire after other people’s welfare. This is a testament to your caring and affable character.

I wish we could have spent more time together, particularly in this new chapter of mine and Sarah’s life. However, I am grateful for the precious moments that we shared before you parted from us, noticeably the formal blessing of our union that you gave on that momentous day. Even though we know that you are here with us in spirit, rest assured that she is in good hands.

We thank the Lord for your life, God Bless you.

TRIBUTE TO VINCENT OSUN
It is always sad to learn of the death of a friend. In the case of Vincent, I was devastated on hearing the news of his demise, as it came out of the blue. Last time I spoke with him was around December 2020. We spoke briefly on the telephone and he sounded alright to me. I never thought I would be writing tributes to him so soon.

Vincent was a decent man. He was peaceful and gentle to the core. He was easy going and softly spoken. I never saw him drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes or do anything unhealthy. You would not expect anyone like him to go so soon. But of course, God has plans for everyone. God gave and God took. Who can blame God?

I believe I met Vincent for the first time when I joined Millennium Club several years ago. He welcomed me into the club and bonded with me easily, so we became friends. Vincent and I exchanged telephone calls with each other many times in-between club meetings and joked over several matters. Vincent and I also attended St Olaves church at Manor House. He was an active member of the church. About five years ago, he was the Chairman of our Harvest Planning Committee, and he took the job very seriously. He managed the committee’s activities excellently and ensured we had another successful harvest that year. He always paid his financial dues towards stewardship fund. He did it in the service of God. That was the kind of person Vincent was.

Vincent had good sense of humour and temper. He was prepared to tolerate jokes, even those told at his expense. He would just laugh or smile about it all.

Death is the end of everything that has life, and no one can escape it. Vincent has played his part in life and has gone to rest in peace, but his memory will forever live in the minds of those who knew him. Rest in peace Vincent till we meet again on the last day when Jesus comes to take us all with him.

Adieu Vincent, Adieu “omo ’logun”.

Akin,
Those special memories of you will always bring us a smile. If only we could have you back for just a little while. If only we could sit and talk again just like we used to do. You meant so much to many. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands laid to rest. Our hearts are broken but God is the decision maker. The Alpha and The Omega.

The fact that you are no longer here with us will always cause us pain,
but you’re forever in our hearts until we meet again.
God had his own plans which were always meant to be,
So He put his arms around you and whispered “Come to me”.

May your gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
Amen.

Dear Uncle,

I was and still am truly saddened for your loss. It came as a true shock to me when I heard of what had happened. I've grown up with your family from a young age, so seeing and remembering you often brought back a lot of joyful memories.

You was always a humble and hardworking man who raised a wonderful family. You will always be remembered. We may be sad, but we know not all is lost, as we truly believe you are now at a better place with the Lord our God.

Rest in peace Uncle.

Dear Uncle Akin,

It is evident that you did your best here on earth as so many people have testisfied. They’ve all spoken about the positive impact you have made in their lives.

I met you on few occasions and I held you in high esteem even though I was not able to express how much I  loved and respected you...but I’m confident that God loves you more.

I believe you are in heaven with the Lord God your creator, the almighty who knows best. Continue to rest in his bosom.

Till we meet to part no more.

I will always remember uncle Vincent growing up as a gentle and friendly man. He would always welcome me as a friend of his daughter Sarah and was always smiling. I remember seeing him at parents evenings for Sarah, a supportive and caring father. He would always ask how we did at school as he wanted Sarah and her friends to excel and achieve.
I’m thankful for the time I was able to see uncle before he went to be with the Father. Even in that time he was still smiling and wanting to make sure everyone was ok.
Uncle you are missed.
Praying for strength, peace and healing for the Osun family. Amen xxx

Dear Uncle Akin,

It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that I write this tribute to you. I know death is inevitable and we all will die one day but no one expected to hear of your demise so soon. I keep asking myself, why him? Why my God-fearing, humble, family loving and generous uncle? Why did he have to leave so soon?

I remember like yesterday when as a student I would visit you at your travel agency office in Hackney or at home, I was always rest assured that when leaving you would give me some pocket money which meant a lot to me at the time. I would either put it towards buying myself a monthly bus pass or something urgently needed in school.

Fast forward to when I was about to get married, you were overjoyed by the news and agreed to walk me down the aisle on behalf of my father, no questions asked. You joked about Banji taking me to Ado Ekiti as an exchange for you taking Wale’s mum to Ondo. You supported our marriage financially, provided us with moral support, marriage advice and plenty of prayers.

Up until a week before you left us, every conversation I had with you ended with you saying “God bless you!” May God in his infinite mercies keep you safe resting in perfect peace till resurrection day, Amen!!! ADIEU, MY EVER CHARMING UNCLE AKIN! God bless the family you left behind in Jesus name. Amen!!!

Ale mi Akin,

First of all, I want to thank God Almighty for the fruitful life that my lovely brother-in-law lived. Just like yesterday, I remember when we were in London together...he was very kind and loving to us.

Ale mi, Akin Osun has surely done his bit and is now resting in the bosom of our Lord and our saviour Jesus Christ. Sometimes, it is not how long but how well and he lived well.
