A daughter of the late Ernest and Northa Ree Carson Poole, Mrs. Meredith was born in Tazewell, GA and was a graduate of Buena Vista High School. She earned a Cosmetology Degree from Columbus Technical College and was the owner/operator of Phyllis' Beauty Lounge. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church where she as a Matrons Ministry, with the Courtesy Guild and Youth Department. She was also a member of the Columbus Beauty Cultural League. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Meredith, and five siblings, John, Major, Paul and James Poole, and Annie Collier.

Survivors include: her daughter, Glenda G. Harris; three grandson, Brandon McMillian (Gia), Dominique Harris (Bree) and Demetrius Harris (Tiffany); one great granddaughter, De'ja Harris; a sister, Halley Poole; three nieces, Northa R. Collier, Fernanga Thomas and Leslie Collier; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
