An avid reader, she served as president of the Library Club for two years. She also participated in 4-H and raised a Reserve Champion Pig for the Lycoming County Pig Round-Up held at the Penn-Central Livestock Market.
Virginia was a mother of five children, who enjoyed outdoor activities with her family, including picnics at home, drive-in movies, camping at Lake Jean, and swimming at the Slabtown Bridge. In the summer, she enjoyed home canning and making jelly with produce from the family garden.
Virginia is survived by her husband Edwin J. Beatty; four sons, Bruce, Gene, Patrick and Michael Rolley; and a daughter, Wendi Beatty; as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Donna Armes and her two brothers, Richard and LeRoy Walters.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701, or a special kindness may be performed for another in Virginia’s memory.
