Virginia Anne (Walters) Beatty, age 75, of Montoursville, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013, at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital.  She was born to the late Abraham Lincoln Walters and Adele Brucklacher Walters on June 3, 1938.

Virginia was a 1956 graduate of Williamsport High School, where she showed a special interest in photography and journalism and wrote for the Billtown Banner. An avid reader, she served as president of the Library Club for two years.  She also participated in 4-H and raised a Reserve Champion Pig for the Lycoming County Pig Round-Up held at the Penn-Central Livestock Market.

Virginia was a mother of five children, who enjoyed outdoor activities with her family, including picnics at home, drive-in movies, camping at Lake Jean, and swimming at the Slabtown Bridge. In the summer, she enjoyed home canning and making jelly with produce from the family garden.

Virginia is survived by her husband Edwin J. Beatty; four sons, Bruce, Gene, Patrick and Michael Rolley; and a daughter, Wendi Beatty; as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her sister, Donna Armes and her two brothers, Richard and LeRoy Walters.

The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her illness.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701, or a special kindness may be performed for another in Virginia’s memory.

She will be missed in so many ways. As a Mother to 5 children a Wife to a husband for over 42 years, a Grandma and Great Grandma to her 7 grandchildren. This world is a better place for having had her in it. Even through she is not present among us, she will continue to live our hearts.
