Virginia Grace Johnston Houston, 97, a former resident of Hatcheechubbee, Ala., and a resident of Senior Citizen Nursing Home in Henderson passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014.

A native of Hatcheechubbee ,Ala., , the daughter of the late Edward and Carrie Lou Grace Johnston Sr. She was a member of Hatcheechubbee Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Funeral services will be conducted at a later date at Vance Memorial Chapel Inc. in Phenix City, Alabama.

Surviving are two daughters, Harriett D. Holder of Lillington, Katherine “Kathy” D. Jones of Oxford,one brother, E.E. Johnston Jr., six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Archie M. Dougherty, Grady Houston ,two sons, Frankie Dougherty, Alex Dougherty, three sisters, Sarah Harden, Mary Groce, Evelyn Lewis, three brothers, Johnny Johnston, Davis “Buck” Johnston and Foster Johnston.

A local visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home of Ron and Kathy Jones.
