My heart goes out to Lee's family and her children who she talked about so affectionately in the brief meetings we had. Lee helped us to home refugees in our old flat and I liked her as soon as I met her. She had a warmth and humour and was so down to earth and so dedicated to finding homes that families would be happy in - not just a roof over their heads. I didn't know her much or for long but the tributes here testify to what I felt - that she was such a genuine, generous person who went the extra mile and touched many lives. Her family can be so proud of her - she has created so many ripples that will continue to emanate outwards, positively. My prayers are with her, her family and colleagues. She has gone far too soon but her love and spirit live on.

Lee was a wonderful beam of energy and light, and so funny too. On a couple of occasions during the lockdown when we were working from home she would leave her camera off in meetings, saying 'Isobel...I'm in my pyjamas.'

Without Lee, Lambeth would not have become home to refugees fleeing war and violence through the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme. She was there at the project's inception and has been totally integral to it. What always amazed me was how much energy Lee was able to devote to our project, which was only one part of her crucial work.

Lee advocated tirelessly for people and had a warmth and honesty that people responded to, even if they couldn't speak the same language. This is evident in families' responses to the news.

I miss her so much, and my thoughts are with her family, I am so sorry for the loss of Lee. What an incredible woman, I feel lucky to have known her and learned from her.

Love, Isobel

Tributes to Lee from some of the refugee families that she has been championing and supporting since 2016. Despite the language barrier, Lee communicated with each and every family in a way that made them feel welcome in Lambeth, and the UK as a whole.

A poem for Lee, written by H:

Death pains the living, and your death hurt me

I leaned on your shoulder while you were leading me to my seat. When I saw you for the first time in my life at the University of London, you was talking about how to provide comfort and housing for refugees in Lambeth? you provided me and my family with the first safe house after a long journey in agony ,, to the land of peace

Your death afflicted me with a cry ... Do you know? Death afflicts the living more

We will not forget you. I will continue to remember you, I was happy about your arrival..and now I am sad for your absence ,, do you remember my saying that the living will suffer greatly if their loved ones die

Sleep in a peace my dear..the living are suffering more for your death

On the 24th February we lost a dear colleague. Lee was always quick to help people, with a smile in her face. She was very giving and I remember at the beginning of the lockdown, when hand sanitizers were difficult to acquire, she created home- made ones and ensured we all had one. Always generous.

Lee was always advocating on behalf of the clients, going the extra mile to ensure clients had appropriate accommodation. She was that kind of person: honest, giving, invested in people, kind, well humored, generous and hard-working… Lee will be sorely missed.. by the clients and colleagues alike. Her beautiful smile and kindness will always stay with us.

Lee was a power woman who would ALWAYS make me laugh with her banter. She was a great listener when I was ready to moan or complain but was also able to put me in my place when is getting" toooo much" as she would say...loool.

She has supported me at times when I didn't know where to turn and I'll be forever grateful. Lee your truly missed and I hope you are sleeping in peace.

Dear Lee

You were a true friend, a kindred sprit. We shared stories and we laughed together. You kept it real, and your dedication and commitment to all that you did in your life held no boundaries and is to be admired.

I remember our journeys home from work in my car back to Lewisham when we would together with Ode talk about so many issues and put the world to right, and Ode to.

Yourself ,Ode, Alex and I shared good times together when I worked at Lambeth which I will never forget, those special moments which were full of fun, laughter, respect, support and of course food.

You are one of God's special children. My beautiful sister I miss you so much and thank God for bringing you into our lives.

Rest in peace my beautiful friend.⚘

Family -my prayers are with you, continue to remember the good times with Mum these will help to ease some of the pain. x

Dear Lee

Thank you for everything you did to vulnerable families and children in Lambeth. Your skills and your ability to connect with people helped many vulnerable women who wouldn’t have otherwise sought help to come forward. You helped many many vulnerable families to get a roof over their heads, you championed Lambeth’s welcome to children and families fleeing war zones. You settled them and stood with them throughout. Tributes received from the families, partners and colleagues stay testimony. You made that difference. You are an inspiration to me and others.

Personally, I still can’t believe you are gone my sister. I do not know whether I thanked you enough for supporting me throughout. You were there for me to talk to, seek support from. I miss you. Rest in Peace my beautiful sister.

I thank my lucky stars I got to count you as my friend. Sharing great times together, laughing like kids, and sharing food, wine and stories, making memories together...  The world has lost a beautiful soul, I have lost a wonderful friend. My deepest sympathies to your family and many friends who I know will miss you so very much. You are a very special lady Lee, one of a kind, and I will treasure every single laugh we shared, run we ran, and glass of wine we drank together... I will be forever grateful for your love, kindness and support - Love and peace Lee xxx

Lee. What can I say. You managed to achieve things many of us would not even dare to contemplate. Lucky Lee....not luck, just Destiny. You had a calling and you rose to the challenge. The song says don't cry, but we can't help but shed tears for your loss...for it is our loss. Rest in graceful peace Lee. Sonia C.

Lee, thank you for everything. Thank you for opening your door to me and so many other people at times when we needed a safe space most, thank you for bringing light and energy to an otherwise grey and dim world, thank you for all the times you never ratted me out to my mum when god knows you could have! But most of all, thank you for being you. I know it’s not good bye, more like see you later x

Lee was full of energy, always smiling and had time for everyone.
She was open and honest regardless of seniority which I loved.
Her commitment to her job and the way she cared for residents was something to be admired.
She was often waiting around in the evening for a call to confirm some resident had a bed for the night and would often take calls while on leave.
Not sure how we developed from work colleagues to friends, but we did- Lee was not easy to say no too. I still can’t believe she is gone, and I will never get to laugh with her again.
We always had fun times including the last alfresco meal we had in Beckenham back in December on a lazy Saturday afternoon – she was not keen on sitting outside but I reassured her she would be warm enough with her fur coat and lots of red wine.
I am going to miss her loads as are so many others who’s lives she touched.
I am just thankful that I was privileged to have such a truly special person to call my friend. She will always be in my heart and never forgotten.
Condolences to all her family and friends XXX

Dear Lee,
When we first met, I knew we would get along really well. You always had a massive smile on your face and always made me laugh. You were truly the life and soul of the party. We always used to talk because although we were not in the same team, we worked pretty closely together on certain cases. You were such also a motherly figure to me - always asking if I was okay, even offering me your shoes at one point :) . I remember when you dragged me out for weekly runs in Clapham Common - No one could ever convince me to do that, but somehow you did (even if it was on 2 occasions) ! Then you abandoned me and told me you were going line dancing instead of running! You were genuinely living life, though! I remember seeing you at the Civic Centre last year and we spoke about meeting up after the pandemic for a BBQ and some drinks. So I was truly and deeply shocked to hear about your passing. It still hasn't sunk in. I wish you could see how many people have expressed their memories and tributes of you... It's been so touching to see. I really pray for your family and close friends - that they continue to remember the great and happy times with you and are comforted that you are now with the angels. ❤️❤️❤️ Lots of love. Linda ❤️❤️

You brought joy, happiness and laughter to all who met you including myself, you will be solely missed by everyone. When a person becomes a memory, the memory become a treasure.
Loss leaves a headache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. May the road rise up to meet you and may the wind be always at your back.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.
Time may pass and fade away but memories of you will always stay.
A person that departs on this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds - through us they live on.

You will definitely forever be missed ❤.
Love you Lee....Rest in peace ✌❤♥

To a beautiful Soul Lee. Even though I didn’t know you personally, I always heard so much about you through your dear sister Simone. You were described as very hard working, determined, loving and so much fun to be around. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend your 50th Birthday Celebrations in which I regret as I missed out on meeting a wonderful person like you. May you Rest in Eternal Peace ❤️

No words can express the loss that is felt by all.
You gave everyone you met - naturally you with no additives.
That is a rare thing in this day and age.
You had total respect from everyone and rightly so, again a rare thing.
Sleep well, little sis.

Full of Life and Memories

Shared by Whitney Hay on March 26, 2021
I have so many good memories filled with such good times, wether that was going to a neighbours BBQ, Having a boogie to some old school jams in the kitchen, or randomly going to a reggae festival with us being the yungens in the group. But we were still kicking it at the front of the DJ booth with Lee and Debs as if we were grown, singing along to all the songs we all know too well. Even the times we got in trouble when we were younger are times that I would always treasure and look back on. It’s crazy to think that you have been someone in my life for a decade, my most formative years. Every day I think about you and it’s hard to believe that you are gone. You were an Amazing woman, mother, friend and must we not forget, the baddest cook. It was a privilege to have known you and still hard to digest as only a few months ago, we bumped into eachother. I would give anything to bump into you again and in due time, we will be reunited at last. Rest in Eternal Peace Lee.
