Her Life
March 4, 2019

Virginia was born in Washington, DC, raised in Douglaston, (Queens) NY. She earned an M.A. in French from Ohio University and an M.A. in Library Science from UCLA. Virginia taught at a school of the blind in Ohio, but her primary career was as a librarian in middle and high schools in Orange County, California and in community college in Houston, Texas. Virginia and John, her husband of 63 years, retired in Houston and returned to San Diego, where Virginia enjoyed her new leisure time to pursue tennis and travel, her true loves.  Virginia was a member of many social groups dedicated to her favorite activities.  These include: bridge club; Carlsbad Newcomers; book club; tennis; antique and antique purse clubs. Virginia was an avid tennis player and occasional bowler.

Virginia was the whole package.  Smart, funny, warm, generous and kind. Her competitive nature was manifested in positive and amusing ways.  She didn't like to play sports unless they kept score. Her love of languages, literature, and art led her to visit many continents to experience those cultures first hand.  Her enthusiasm infects all who made her acquaintance.

Virginia's spirit lives on in our hearts and will always bring us comfort us. What she leaves behind is woven into the lives of all those who knew her.
