His Life

The son of the late Dempsey and Estelle Murphy Williams, Bishop Williams was born in Evergreen, AL. He was a 1957 graduate of Ransom High School in Cantonment, FL, and attended Washington Junior College in Pensacola, FL.

He obtained his Doctorate of Divinity Degree from the Friends Theological Seminary. He was a member of All Saints Holiness Church in Pensacola, FL, and served as Pastor of the 2nd Street AOH Church of God in New Orleans, LA, Washington Street AOH Church of God in Cantonment, and Grace Temple/Tabernacle of Praise AOH Church of God in Columbus. Other than pastoring, Bishop Williams was employed as a sales associate at Kirvens and Sear's Roebuck, and was a ticket agent at Eastern Airlines. He was a member of the Toastmaster's Club, and authored several religious based books.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty J. Burnette, and five siblings.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Marion H. Williams; a son, Dereke V. Williams; four daughters, Beverly Allen, Pharancia Toney (Quentin, Sr.), Tammy L. Williams, and Anjannette Williams; eighteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; one sister, Mary L. Hughes; two brothers, James E. Williams (Shirley) and Herbert Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
