"Greetings Usher Wale"
"Greetings Lara croft"
Those were our saluting lines when we saw or talked on the phone.
You are one of my big brothers from another mother, ever ready to listen to me and give honest feedback. Ever ready to help me when I needed you. Ever jovial and down to earth.
A great dad to your daughter, you constantly prophesied greatness into her life each time you saw her, she is heartbroken now but more determined to make you very proud.
To say I will miss you is an understatement. We have been through many things together but this is a big blow.
Rest in peace my darling brother and friend. Enjoy the bosom of your Father.

My big bro Wale,

You played an integral role in my childhood and in turn, part of those who shaped me to be the woman I have become. You were my brother! How do I begin to write a tribute to you, I never thought this early, I was sure it had to be a mistake when I heard the shocking news. So many treasured memories from our childhood, what an impact you had on many of us, I speak on "close 16". You were one of those that initiated and maintained the solidarity we had on "close 16" You always had a sixth sense of humor and always a pleasure to be around. As a kid, whenever I heard Aghogherian soccer, I knew you were around the corner, cheering me on, boosting my confidence and making me laugh. How I long to hear you call me that... So protective of me like a true big brother! I will forever hold on to the fond memories. This is definitely a hard pill to swallow. Rest in heaven bro!

“Friendship is everything. Friendship is more than talent. . .. it is almost the equal of family” (Don Corleone).

Man Waly, I have many fond memories of our teenage escapades so much so that I’m giggling as I write this short tribute. You were just too funny. I particularly recollect the ‘na Yinka teach me’ breakdance.

That story you shared with me in April reinforces my perception of the Ubuntu philosophy – I am because we are.

Thanks for your regular WhatsApp chats/phone calls and most of all for being a great friend/brother.

As the saying goes – memories don’t leave like people do, they always stay with you. I would continue to cherish the memories we made. I’m proud of you Wale. Sleep well.

You are such a cool person with an interesting personality, down to earth and gentle....I obviously can’t use past tense because you live on in our hearts.

I will be strong and there for my sweet mummy like I always call her

My family and I met Wale when Dr Bola Ozoya, his sister resided in Korle Bu. She was our neighbour. Wale was a Gentle Giant, wearing a beautiful smile with twinkling eyes. It was obvious to tell how proud and fond Dr was of him and him of her. His presence made Dr and Seun so happy! The news of his passing came as a shock and we are left dumbfounded. We pray for the family, that God will comfort them and see them through this most difficult of times. Wale, rest in perfect peace in the bossom of the Lord

May 18, 2020
Dear Wale,
It was unbelievably shocking to have learnt of your passing that fateful Monday night 11th May,2020.

I have had the opportunity of being your friend for well over 45 years,as we had attended the same primary school(Adrao Intenational School,V/Island) and later met at Satellite town, where we both had our teenage years....and boy!...what a great time we had in 'those days'!

The very last time I saw you in person was at my father's funeral party held at the Baptist Academy,Obanikoro in June 2019...and for me that was indeed a great reunion,as we hadn't seen each other in almost 30 years prior to that!

You have always been an epitome of calmness,a cool, gentle and soft spoken guy....and I daresay, albeit sadly, that you will be so greatly missed by all of us.

I pray that the Almighty God will protect and comfort the lovely family you have left behind and meet all their needs and requirements in Jesus' name!
Continue to rest in the bossom of our Lord and Saviour,Jesus Christ till that day when we shall meet(in heaven) to part no more!

ADIEU WALE!!!

Rest in peace buddy.

Wale... a true friend and a brother. We shared great times growing up in satellite town playing football and lawn tennis. You never wanted to lose, being the fierce competitor that you were. The day I heard of your death was a painful one as we were just together in Ghana in February of this year. You came to support me in the burial of my father. Whenever I come to Lagos we always met up. July 2019 at landmark beach we all had a great time. I'll never forget the time when you fell off the jet ski and nearly drowned. Even though you had as life jacket on, It took 4 of us to get you out of the water, good thing we had pictures as it was unbelievably funny. You have left us with so be much grievance. May your gentle soul rest in peace. We love and miss you. Till we meet again, Farewell Wale.

BIOGRAPHY – OLAWALE BABATUNDE AGUN

May 17, 2020
Olawale Babatunde Agun was born on the 21st of March 1967 at Westley Guild Hospital, Ilesha, Osun State, Nigeria. He was born to the family of Mr Samuel Olufemi Agun and Mrs Grace Naakle Agun. He was the third of five children. He attended Adrao International School Lagos where he sat for his National Common Entrance Examination. His secondary education was at the Federal Government College Ijanakin, Lagos from 1978 till 1983. It was there that his talents as a great sports man were discovered. He excelled in sports like Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Badminton and Football. He also had a stint at the Federal School of Arts and Science, Lagos between 1984 and 1986.

Wale gained admission into the University of Sokoto where he bagged a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Economics. After his tertiary education, he observed his one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Calabar.
He started his working career with Equatorial Trust Bank in 1992 and went through various positions in the bank before retiring in 2009.
After his retirement he did some free lance in the oil and gas sector from 2010 to 2014. He got married to Mrs Bunmi Agun in 2004 and fondly called her “My Beautiful Wife”. Wale went further to work with Princeton Health Insurance in Lagos from 2014 and retired in December 2019. He relocated to Ghana in 2019 where he started a Sports bar till date.
Wale had the gift of easily making friends and is known for having a BIG HEART. He was special to people in different ways and was well loved by his family, friends, peers, colleagues and acquaintances. He acquired nicknames like A.K, The Greatest,  Final Bros, Oguro because of what he meant to people. Wale has lived his life and has lived it his way. We thank God for his well lived life. Unfortunately, he finally took his bow on the 11th of May 2020 after a very brief illness. Wale we love you but God loves you more. We will surely miss you Wale. May your gentle soul rest in peace our dearest son, brother, husband, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. Amen.

I heard the news of your demise, but was too shocked to say anything.
You offered to pick me up to attend the last set reunion at Eko Hotel, you fulfilled you promise and even offered to take me home.
We talked at length on our way to and from the reunion venue. We promised ourselves that we would always find time to hook up and talk.
Tried getting across to you on several occasions but to no avail but to be met with the rude shock of your loss.
Hmmm, this life sha!
