I am shocked and saddened by the passing of a dear and true friend of more than 30 years. Walker was an unsung hero and giant in the cause of Africa's economic development. His contributions changed
the landscape for many people who had never met him. He loved people and worked hard to empower vulnerable people everywhere. The world is dimmer by his passing and enriched by his life. My family and I extend our prayers to his family and all who knew and loved him. Rosa

I want to extend my sincere condolences to the Williams family.
Walker was deeply committed to his work on behalf of Africa, the Caribbean and the African American community, and all of us who care about these issues has lost a friend, ally and active partner in the work we do in these areas. Ambassador Johnnie Carson

Walker Williams championed Africa and led many causes that resulted in changing and uplifting lives everywhere. He was a force for good and shared his considerable knowledge and talents with all he encountered.
His loss to his family, his friends and colleagues, and to those whom he served so generously is profound. May he rest in peace.

It is with deep sadness I convey my condolences to his family on the passing of my friend and colleague Walker. He was a man whose humility and gentleness of spirit inspired us all. His wisdom and counsel to those he encountered led many to achieve great success. The Caribbean and African diaspora have lost an advocate. You will be sorely missed my brother and may your soul Rest In Peace.

To a man who inspired me. I found his opinion about a variety of subjects inspirational. We shared the same "Barber". I will certainly miss bumping into him at the shop and "catching" up while we wait our turn in the chair. I will also miss our barber filling me in about his activities. Peace and love always to his family. I am honored to have know such a good man. He certainly added value to us all. Percy"

My sincere condolences to the family and friends of my mentor and friend, Walker Williams. As noted in the bio, Walker did not any enemies. That is indeed a great feat in this town! Walker had a special way to communicate to all how much they were valued. I was privileged to witness his magic up close engaging heads of government, business leaders, and the regular guy. Walker was always humble. He was never the first or last to speak, but once you spent time with Walker, you knew he was the real deal. Rest easy my friend.

I can't write enough to do your legacy justice Walker. One story from my life along side you sums it up. On a Monday 20 years ago I told him I was getting married and the following Saturday he and Jan were in South Africa for our wedding. Our hearts, love, and prayers are with you, Jan and yours and the world will never forget the great things you did for all of us!

Like many others, this is certainly a shock. Walker and I worked together throughout the years - most notably on a task to educate top leadership of the Egyptian telecom on the benefits of opening up their industry to participation by the private sector. Importantly, when we began, Egypt had one of the worst per capita telecom services in Africa and not long after our intervention they became one of the best. Our task took place right after the first anniversary of the 9/11 attack so you can imagine the difficulty of moving around the US with a large contingent of Egyptians. Walker's professionalism and wonderful demeanor made the task much easier than it could have been. The WORLD has lost a great man. My sincere condolences to his family and I will remember Walker and them in my prayers.

I met Walker in 1984, introduced by Robert Gray, who insisted that I needed to meet him.  I was a junior account executive at Gray and Company at the time, had just left the Foreign Service. Walker was running the Caribbeana Council. He was always patient, kind and had a wonderful sense of humor. We remained friends, colleagues on issues related to the Caribbean and Africa, traveled together to the Caribbean, and laughed a lot. I knew he would always take my call and I his, on the first ring. In DC, that is symbolic of many things. He will be missed.

I don't know that I've ever met a better person. It's been a while since we'd seen each other but the memories of his wit, sincerity and creativity remain undimmed. The world will be a lesser place for his passing.

Dearest Walker!!
This news is certainly a shock, but I am sure that you departed this life in dignity and a sense of calm that so always surrounded you. I am deeply honored to have known you and our friendship over the years has been a treasured one. From your professional counsel, your words of comfort at my Dad's passing and having you and your beautiful wife in attendance at my wedding. I will miss your laughter and your counsel and encouragement. You leave a shining legacy! Until the trumpet sounds ... Rest in Peace my friend.

I want to extend my sincere condolences to the family. Mr. Williams was inspirational and a mentor. I always ran my key issues by him when in doubt. He was always honest and direct with me. His intellect and sense of responsibility was impeccable. He marked his time and left a legacy. When the story about US-Africa is written, he will with no doubt be cited as a key actor. May he rest in peace and may the Almighty bless his soul.

A truly selfless icon, Walker was the consummate Servant Leader. For those of us who met him early in our careers, he was a treasure chest of wisdom. He was always willing to listen and then ever so gently impart a menu of options to resolve an emerging obstacle. He loved the continent of Africa with every inch of his being and was a gallant advocate who made friends across the continent. We will miss you Walker, but as the freedom fighters used to sing, we will meet in Heaven…

To Walker's dear family, I continue to feel a very deep loss... Walker was so very special to me from the time we met, following the loss of my Mom in 1989. He and Sandy Fauriol hired me to work with them to fundraise for the Black Revolutionary War Patriots Memorial. From then to his transition as a now ancestor, he was/is deeply and dearly treasured.

I do miss his presence in my life. With great love and gratitude, Pam (Durham, NC)

A Glimpse

June 22, 2017

There are gems that some of us get to embrace and know and cherish forever while others can only momentarily glimpse and admire from a distance. What a wonderful gem of a person you held all your lives. How amazingly fortunate you all were, to have had Walker all this time. How lucky I was to have had even just a quick glimpse. My deepest condolences.

The Bet

April 22, 2017

I grew up with Walker in East Orange, NJ. My condolences go out to Kenneth, Elaine , and Diane.

This story "The Bet" goes back to when I was about 9 or 10 and Walker was a year older. I made a pinky bet with him that I would never grow up and smoke or drink. I lost the pinky bet when I was about 16 years old!! He never let me forget it.

As I have read all of the wonderful accomplishments Walker made in his life, I feel blessed to have been a part of his life. Rest In Peace, cousin.
