His Life

Walter Brooken Jr. was born to the late Walter
Hollis Brooken Sr. & Jimmie Dene McElrath
Brooken on September 13, 1930 in Wetumpka,
Elmore, Alabama.

He was educated in the Coosa County Training
School System. His family lived in Coosa county
when he left to make a life of his own, starting in
Pensacola Florida. There he met his soon to be
wife, who proceeded him in death, The late Clarie
Dees Brooken. It was in Pensacola that they
started their family. To this union there were 5 chib
dren. Phyllis Nonis of Birmingham, AL, Paul Andrew
Brooken who proceeded his father in death,
Alvin Brooken of Birmingham, AL, Janice Dorsey
of Cocoa, FL, and Walter Hollis Brooken ol Cocoa,
FL. Mr. Brooken has 2 other children Faye (James)
Silmon of Slycauga, AL, and Fredrick Crayton of
Montgomery, AL. He has three (3) sisters Lavern
Hannon, Cora Dene Edwards, and Dorothy
Dubose. He had one (1) sister to proceed him in
death, Mary Louise McKinney. He has one (1)
brother, Nathaniel Brooken of Birmingham, AL. He
has one(1) uncle Andrew Brooken of Birmingham,
AL. Three (3) sister- in -laws, Mary Alice Dees of
Pensacola, FL, Dinah Jones of Bufialo, NY, and
Ella Ruth Moody of Panama City, FL. There are 15
grand children, 26 great grand children and a host
of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Walter's family called him Junior. He retired from
Russell Mill in Alexander City. Junior enjoyed his
alone time, fishing, good clean fresh food, gardening
and activities that took him from Wetumpka
to Mississippi.
