I worked with Poppy before my wife and I were married at the Black Knight Lounge. He got several people jobs there. Same at Chrysler. He got my younger brother and my cousin jobs at the plant tho neither stayed there. He was a lot of fun and when he made foreman all his workers loved him. Poppy loved to be loved.

My favorite memory of poppy was him cooking me the round patty sausages, cheese eggs, and hand cut potatoes for breakfast before school. It was so greasy and good lol. I loved hearing his stories about Normandy, World War 2, and how he met my great grandmother, Lou Lou. She passed away when I was very young but I am lucky enough to have her name as my middle name. I remember visiting them in Colorado and their sheets smelling like Lavender. Every Christmas, Poppy made me in charge of labeling and putting money in all of the Christmas cards for the grandkids. He was always laughing and cracking jokes. In the last few months of his life, when his hospital visits were frequent, he bragged to all the hospital staff that I was HIS nurse. You will truly be missed Poppy! Give Lou Lou and Tyler hugs and kisses from us!

As I tried to find a picture of me and Poppy, I looked and looked and sadly couldn't find one. I'm sure my parents have one of me or even grandpa Steve. I wish I would've written Poppy more, he always told me, "Quelan if you don't start writing me, I'm gonna punch you in the nose". I always just laughed and would typically write him a letter as soon as I got home. He always made sure that I had plenty of money for the ice cream truck and always took me to Steve and Barry's to get shoes. Poppy always made sure that I was happy and comfortable. The greatest memory I will have is riding on the bus with Poppy. I will never forget all the bus rides that he took me on! I miss him so much already! Poppy is my role model and always will be! If everyone loved the way Poppy loved, the world would have no problems! I'll love you forever and never forget you Poppy! When I see you again, I will definitely be ready for a solid punch in the nose! Love you Poppy!

Poppy was a grandfather for all of my friends. He had a station wagon when I was a kid. He would take me and all of my friends on the block to Belle Isle and Boblo. Faygo pop and all the penny candy we could eat. He made no differences between me and my sisters and told each of us We were his favorite

I lived at Steve & Renell's for awhile and Poppy & I were roommates :). I was in my early 20's. He use to cook me greens & ribs on grill. He'd also make a big greasy mess in the kitchen! Boy it tasted yummy. He'd ride his bike to king soopers & bring me home pears in a paper bag. I didn't really like pears & wondered why he bought me them. But then after I tried the ones he bought me, I've loved them ever since. He's such a fun loving special guy! Thanks for all the good food & love Poppy! ❤️
