His Life

Mr. Walter Lee (Roy) Trammell, the 7th child of the late Mr. Eugene Trammell Sr. and Mrs. Mary Lee (Welch) Trammell, was born March 10, 1942 in Chambers County, Alabama. He departed this life at his residence on Sunday, September 9, 2012.

 

Roy”, as he was known to most, accepted Christ and joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated in 1960 from Phillips High School. Roy was married to the late Myrtis Griffin in 1961 and to that union was born five beautiful children. He lived in Hartford, Connecticut and Detroit, Michigan where he worked for Chrysler Corp. After retiring from Chrysler Corp., he relocated back to Lanett, Alabama.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories: six children, Tina Ward, Dothan, AL; Sonya Thomason, Five Points, AL; Terri (Darrien) Fincher, Lawrenceville, GA; Sereda (Caiphus) Trammell, Conyers, GA; Walter Trammell, Lawrenceville, GA; and Tom Todd, Detroit Michigan; three brothers, Eugene Trammell, Jr., Lanett, AL, Odis (Judy) Trammell, Madison, WI, and Wendell (Joy) Trammell, Aiken, SC; six sisters, Jacquelyne Trammell, Hartford, CT, Earnestine (Charlie) Bailey, Martha McCurty, Connie (Jimmy) Hall, Patricia (Andrew) Jackson, and Nevelyn Pittman all of Lanett, AL; one sister-in-law, Lillie Trammell, Newnan, GA; special friend and caregiver, Clifford Griggs; two special neighbors, Bernice Allen and Ann Broomfield; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
