OBITUARY
Ms. Wanda Faye Ceiphas, daughter of Levi Ceiphas and Clotee Newsome Ceiphas was born April 26, 1950 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Faye, as she was affectionately called, attended the public schools of Oklahoma City and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at a young age. She was a long-time member of Greater New Zion Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir.
Faye served as a private in-home childcare provider for many years. She later worked as a hospital food service worker for St. Anthony Hospital and Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. Faye enjoyed listening to music and spending time with her family and friends. Although she never married or had any children, Faye played an integral role in raising all of her nieces and nephews.
Faye suffered significant health decline over the last 10 years. Her loving sisters became her caretakers, first in Oklahoma City, then Houston and ultimately in Birmingham. Since 2016, she attended Free Church of Jesus Christ the Almighty God and spent her days at the Center Point Senior Citizens Center. She departed this life peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2020, at University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her sisters, Shirley Gaston, Edna Sturgis and Diane Irwin; her nieces, Valsherri Warner, Velicia Hill, Dana Hill, Eva Allen (Tyrone) and Christy Garretson (John); her nephews, Rodney Berry, Stafford Gaston (Sharon), Steven Sturgis and Michael Long; great nieces Norah and Noelle Gaston, Ava Allen and Chloe Garretson; great nephews, Derek Warner, Skyler Hyman and Sean Allen and a host of other relatives and friends.
