Memorial Service Time: Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church located at 1041 N Pine Hill Rd. Fultondale, AL 35217. 

Minister Wanda Carter Jackson was born on March 5, 1956, to the now departed Mr. Albert David Carter and Ms. Lona Brown Olison. Wanda was a product of the Bessemer City School system and was a 1974 graduate of Jess Lanier High School.

Minister Wanda Carter Jackson earned her associates degree in Business Administration from Southern Junior College of Business. She later went on to work for the college and later became a recruiter for Herzing Institute. She would move on to manage several career colleges, include Debbie’s School of Beauty. Wanda later entered the HVAC industry, where her last place of employment was Switzerland Heating and Air. She served as Switzerland’s office manager until ill health led her into early retirement.

Minister Wanda Carter Jackson received Christ as a child and was a memberLittle True Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Bessemer, AL. Wanda would go on in life to voyage through triumphs, trials, hardships, and redemption. Wanda rededicated her life to Christ and joined Lighthouse Ministries in Birmingham, AL. She would go on to become a licensed minister.Wanda’s last place of worship was Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church in Fultondale, AL. Wanda served as an associate minister and youth Sunday School teacher at her latter two church homes. Her favorite past time became making copies of gospel CDs and distributing them to those she encountered. Minister Jackson became very adamant about telling people about Jesus! Wanda’s most prized accomplishment outside of her work in ministry was becoming GRANDMA WANDA!

Minister Wanda Carter Jackson wed Mr. Lawrence Jackson in 1978 and they shared an 11 year union. Wanda departed this life on Tuesday, Septemper 4, 2018.She was recently preceeded in death by her dear brother, David Carter (Donna), on July 31, 2018. She leaves behind three children: Tara Carter Strickland (Maurice), Avery Carter (Courtney), and Lawrence “Buck” Jackson Jr. : Two Grandaughters, Makenzie and Madison Carter: Her beloved niece and nephews Sharon Bland Vincent (Joe), Stanley Bland (Jackie), and Tommy Bland Jr., and many other relatives and friends. Wanda also served as “spiritual mother” to a host of youth and young adults from both Lighthouse Ministries and Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church.

I was searching for you Dear Friend and this is what I receieved. I never thought I wouldn't have seen you on this side again. We really had good times together when we were co-workers at the college.  Wanda, I am so proud of your accomplishments. Always knew you were strong in the Lord. God has always been our daily walk and talk.  Not saying we were perfect. No, not in way...but we always Knew GOD was our EVERYTHING. Rest In Heavenly Peace Friend ( RIHP)

I was searching for you Dear Friend and this is what I receieved. I never thought I wouldn't have seen you on this side again. We really had good times together when we were co-workers at the college.  Wanda, I am so proud of your accomplishments. Always knew you were strong in the Lord. God has always been our daily walk and talk.  Not saying we were perfect. No, not in way...but we always Knew GOD was our EVERYTHING.
