Waverly Nelson Critcher, 88, a native of Granville County passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016 at his home.

He was the son of the late Willie Hill and Fannie Mangum Critcher. He was a member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church and owner of Hill Top Lumber Company for fifty-four years, a veteran of the US Army and was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday April 17, 2016 at 2:30 P.M. at Tabbs Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Stan Jenkins and Rev. Lamar Wheeler and DeLane Hayes. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Critcher Hayes of Garner, Audrey Critcher Duke (Mike) of Oxford, a sister, Dorothy Critcher Walker of Oxford, a brother, Harold Critcher (Norma Leigh) of Oxford, five grandsons, Chris Duke (Nicole) of Oxford, Blair Duke of Oxford, Ryan Duke (Mary Claire) of Henderson, Dustin Duke of Raleigh and DeLane Hayes (Megan) of Garner and four great-grandchildren, Charley Duke, Aiden and Eli Duke and Shaw Hayes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Critcher and a brother W.C. Critcher.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening April 16, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home of Mike and Audrey Duke.

Memorials may be made to Tabbs Creek Baptist Church, in care of Alice Overton, 6537 Harold O’Brien Rd., Oxford, N.C. 27565.

Doris, Rachel and I are so sorry for your loss. Waverly was a wonderful friend and every Thanksgiving he called and talked to us about the family and the happenings there. We grieve with you. And we look forward to reunion day when we will see him again.
