I have so many good memories spending time with you and family, those will be with me forever.  From sporting clays to sitting around the pool to Thanksgiving dinners, you brought your wit and enthusiasm to them all.

I will miss your laughter. You were always quick with a laugh and smile. I can still hear your chuckle and it brightens my day.
I will miss your mischievous streak. 
There is a hole in the heart of those who loved and cherished you.

Your honesty, your bravery, your strength, your cup half full outlook on life will be admired, treasured, honored and respected. I will miss you as my father, and my friend, in all that I do.

Wayne Arthur Alexander

“Alibi-Al”

December 5, 1926 – February 26, 2019

On, Tuesday, February 26, 2019, Wayne Arthur Alexander, loving husband and father of four children passed away at age 92.

Wayne was born on December 5, 1926 in Beech Groove, Indiana to Paul and Marie (Sullivan) Alexander, with siblings Margorie Alexander, Joanne Alexander, and Daniel Cooper.  On March 17, 1948 he married Dorothy Jean Lowe. They raised 3 daughters, Nancy, Valerie, and Lisa and two sons, Jeffery and Steven. Wayne lived in various locations including Indianapolis, Indiana, Noblesville, Indiana, Sarasota, Florida, and Clayton, Indiana.

For anyone that knew him, they will remember his endless kindness, his honesty, sense of humor, his laugh, his love for life and the outdoors, and his ability to always find a way to succeed in life. He was a proud Navy Veteran of World War II and Korean War. He retired from Indianapolis Power & Light Company after 44 years. He was a World Class Trap Shooter for many years. Wayne was an avid member of S.A.S.S. (Single Action Shooting Society) as “Alibi-Al” where he attended many World Shoots always placing in the top of his groups. He enjoyed time at the beach, kayaking, hiking, fishing, and traveling to find new adventures. Wayne spent the past four years with his daughter Valerie, doing the things he loved.

Wayne was proceeded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Alexander. He is survived by his four children Jeffery, Steven, Valerie, and Lisa, his brother Dr. Daniel Cooper, and his cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Naval Salute will take place at Sarasota Memorial Park in front of the Internal Life Mausoleum with burial following on March 11, 2019 at 10:00 am.
