Wayne E. Johnson 1933 - 2017   Wayne Ellsworth Johnson, age 84, of Monroeville died on November 15, 2017. He was surrounded by his family and passed away peacefully in his sleep at home.

A beloved husband and devoted father, Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan (nee Ellis), and his children Dean, Craig, and Heidi. He is remembered with love by his nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his sisters Katherine Ayers and Elaine Super. He was predeceased by his parents, Wayne Ellsworth Johnson and Florence Mildred Roberts (nee Donohugh), and by his sisters Florence Tomlin and Doris Strock.

Wayne was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a young boy during his father’s naval service the family lived in Virginia and Florida before settling in National Park, New Jersey. He attended Woodbury High School and then served in the Korean War. Wayne met his future wife through mutual friends and the two were married in 1957. In time he purchased an old farmhouse in Monroeville where he and his wife would raise their three children and where he would live for the next 50 years.   Wayne found that self-employment suited him well and he operated several business ventures throughout his career. He enjoyed working on cars, horse riding, and raising vegetables, chickens, and pigs on his small farm. Most of all, he loved the Savior and contributed a substantial portion of his life to serving others.

The family would like to thank the workers of Bayada Hospice and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their dedication and assistance during Wayne’s last year.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Eglington Cemetery, 320 Kings Highway, Clarksboro, New Jersey.

Family members are invited to attend a luncheon immediately following the service at the Woodstown LDS Church, 1194 Kings Highway, Woodstown, New Jersey.
