R. Wayne Mitchell passed away peacefully on October 21, 2016 at 5am. He was born December 31,1955 in Baltimore Maryland. He moved to North Port, Florida in 1991.
Wayne lived life to the fullest. He attended Colgate Elementary School, Holabird Junior High and Kenwood High. He loved playing the clarinet with Kenwood marching Band and truly loved going to St Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the youth groups both at church and the “Boys of Colgate” after school. He was a paper boy for the News American and played baseball with a passion. Oh yes, he did love bowling Duck Pins with his family and in Florida he took up golf. The Miami Dolphins became his favorite team after the Colts left Baltimore. He was a natural salesman and sold pizzas, jewelry, and cemetery plots in Baltimore. In Florida, he embraced the hospitality industry at Johnny’s Diner and Pub, Hampton Inn and the Days Inn of Port Charlotte.
His lovely wife Denise Reinhart Mitchell departed this world in 1998. Her daughter, Tara Cody Cornish, whom Wayne loved as his own daughter, survives him along with her 5 children. His father, Aubrey F Mitchell, Jr predeceased him. He leaves his mother, Guilda, brothers Mike and wife Amy, Wally and wife Gina, and sister Linda and husband John Grother, along with 8 nieces and 1 nephew, and their 23 children. His fiancée, Linda Hagen and her family enriched his life for his last 8 years.
