Wayne Rigby Green, 87, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, Sept. 29 after a long illness.

Born in Detroit, Michigan Jan. 29, 1928, he was the oldest of two children of V. Wayne and Marion Rigby Green. Wayne attended Wilbraham Academy in Worcester, MA and went on to earn a B.A. in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He served in the U.S.Army and was stationed in Japan in 1945. He spent a brief time pursing his love of baseball as a pitcher in semi-pro baseball. Wayne's career in Public Relations writing spanned four decades and concluded with his role as Director of Public Relations for the National Association of Theater Owners in Manhattan. Wayne was well known for his ready wit, fierce intelligence, and his searching and open mind. He enjoyed sports, reading, playing the guitar, singing, photography, as well as entertaining and educating children. He was a longtime Unitarian Universalist, and was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Charlotte County. Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Carley Mae Larson Green, and his adopted son, Rod Green. He is survived by his current wife, Mary Burcham of Port Charlotte FL, son Evan Green of Fort Pierce FL, daughter Christie Green of Woodacre CA, four stepchildren and four grandchildren: Carley Roth, Jordan Roth, Ryan Green and Meoki Green.
