Pastor Muir came into our lives in 1972 when he accepted a call to serve in Bermuda at St. George's and Midland Heights Churches.  A close neighbour to us, the entire family became our extended family.  They doted on our daughter, Tammy;  bought her a nurse's outfit & let her "nurse" him when he didn't feel well.  They had her snorkelling in the ocean at four years old. Today, she is a marine biologist & the Senior Marine Resource Officer for the Bermuda Government.  Pastor Muir loved God & God's creation.  Marlene has fond memories of our sunset vespers by the sea, the Master Guide classes he directed, the pathfinder club he initiated and junior summer camps.  Cranston still talks about him cutting up wood to make shelves, for his study, in our unfinished living room & the joy of serving with him as an elder. Most of all, we loved his sermons - so well planned & tactfully delivered, always appealing to hearers to surrender to Christ.  Also, we have truly enjoyed reading some of the books he has authored.  When visiting Pastor & Sis. Muir in CA, he gave us a grand tour of Yosemite National Park.  We look forward to the day when Christ will come & we'll see him again. Love to Sis. Muir, Gail, Herb, Tami & Melissa and Gladys.

My name is John Segar.  I have been buying and selling SDA books for 20 years.  Over the years I have collected over 4,000 SDA story books.  I have read 2,400 of them.  For many years my favorite was Keith Aargraves paratrooper.  I have now my top 12.  The last one I added was Little Indian  I shed many tears as I was reading the book.  I like to thank authors when I get chance.  I hereby want to thank Wellesley Muir for taking time to write this amazing book. And for his time as a missionary.  If CarlosVelasquez is still alive thank you also and your children.  I remember reading that the children asked the father why did you bring us here.  I bet Yban doesn't ask that any more.  If I can find his phone number I will call him.

Thanks much John Segar

Memories

I first got to know Elder & Mrs. Muir when they were pastors at "church in the park" in Yosemite National Park, where I lived/worked for 17 years. They were so positive & glowing in their love of nature and God. I also knew both through my parents & membership at the Oakhurst. S.D.A. church. They eventually became part of my extended family & never missed my birthday (when they would arrive at my work & sing the birthday song!) or anniversary. It was always a treat to hear Elder Muir give a sermon & we 3 YNP SDAs would often drive to Oakhurst just to hear him speak. "Muir family reunions" were legendary at "church in the park" & an event not to be missed. I will remember him as a wise man of integrity, honour, & spirit who cared for the simple things in life & always had an encouraging word to share. He loved Jesus & shared that love with everyone. He was a great man & will be missed. Longing for the day when we can go home to heaven to be with our Saviour and loved ones. What a day that will be!

Poem by Evelyn Muir

May 29, 2012

      He sleeps.

                    His suffering is over.

                         He feels no more pain.

Never will he have to say,

                           ‘I am sick,’ again.

       He rests.

                     His toiling is ended.

His work on earth is done.

                    Those loving hands are quiet.

His race here, he has run.

       He naps.

                      Time no longer running,

The clock of life run down.

                        Soon the hand of Jesus

Will place on his head, a crown.

       He awaits

                   The Golden Morning

When the dead in Christ shall rise.

May each of us be ready

To meet him and Jesus in the skies
