William “Bill” Joseph Alexander was born on June 10, 1953, in Darke County, Ohio. He passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, age 70.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane (Langenkamp) Alexander; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Valerie Alexander of Pleasant Hill; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tyler Phlipot of Versailles; his grandchildren Cole & Rylee Alexander; Ethan, Emily, Andrew, & Brayden Phlipot; his siblings and spouses Jane Johnson and Joyce (Dale) King; his in-laws and spouses Marianne Brunswick, Carl Langenkamp, Edna (Fred) Bruns, John (Marge) Langenkamp, Ruth Oldiges, Richard (Marylou) Langenkamp, Eileen (Doug) Floan.
He is preceded in death by his parents Chalmer and Gene (Grieshop) Alexander and father-in-law and mother-in-law Hugo and Marcella (Gerling) Langenkamp; siblings Barbara Detrick and Jim Alexander; his in-laws Maurice Brunswick, Jeanie & Gordon Hoffman, Joan Langenkamp, Charles Oldiges.
William was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He owned a franchise of PDA and worked as an insurance appraiser for 45 years. William will be remembered for his legacy of giving back to his family and his community. His donation of time and money was appreciated within the Bethel Local school district and expanded out to both the Newton and Versailles school districts. He was a proud graduate of Versailles High school in 1971 where he participated in athletics. His love for athletics carried over into his adult life where he coached and officiated for sports including soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball. 
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:30 AM at St Louis Cemetery in North Star, Ohio. A celebration of his life will follow with a luncheon at St Denis Catholic Church basement in Versailles, Ohio. All family and friends are welcome to join both the service and lunch.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that Bill’s legacy of giving back to his community be continued. Donations will be accepted to support Versailles High School and Newton High School athletic programs. We would like to donate towards the new weight room equipment at VHS; and a new batting cage net at NHS. "UGH" was a well respected member of the teams he played with. He started at middle linebacker as a freshman on the first UPI state championship team in Versailles. Condolences to Diane and his loving family. Rest in Peace my friend.
