When mom and dad were dating at Oklahoma Baptist University, dad asked mom to an event (Spring Fling? they don't remember) as his date. At the time, mom worked at the only florist in Shawnee, OK and dad knew this. So he called the florist and ordered a corsage, using the name Bill Carter, so she wouldn't know it was for her. Her boss felt sorry for mom because it appeared her date, Bill Crews, hadn't thought to order flowers for their date. Mom ended up with two corsages for the date: one from her boss and one from Bill 'Carter.' He continued the tradition every year for as long as any of us can remember, always having one gift under the tree from Bill Carter.
