William F. Lippincott of Mannington and Cape May, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on October 14, 2014, at the age of 99.  He was pre-deceased by his wife of 72 years, Edna Lloyd Lippincott, “the only woman I ever loved; you know, we met on her fifteenth birthday, and I knew right away that she was the one.”  Bill worked at DuPont Chambers Works from 1933 until 2002.  He started part-time while he was in school and continued through many capacities, including head of the electrical department.  He received his B.S. from Rutgers, and became a licensed professional electrical engineer, completing his career as a project engineer and consultant.

An active member of his community, Bill served as the president of the Mannington school board for six years, was housing, zoning and building administrator for Mannington Township, and served as a member of the planning board.  He was a member of various clubs and organizations, including the Freemasons, Ruritan, the Society of Professional Electrical Engineers, The Cottagers Association of Cape May, Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May, and the Cape May Beach Club.  Recently, Bill was honored with an in-home ceremony during which he was awarded his 75 Year Pin and Certificate from the Freemasons.

Bill loved summers in Cape May at the Windsor Avenue house, built in the 1880’s by his great uncle, John C. Belden, Jr., Big Bands, dancing, boating, and playing cards.  He will be greatly missed by his family:  daughter Joyce (Joy) Newland, son-in-law Leigh Edmunds, granddaughter Ashley Edmunds of Ellicott City, Maryland, and great-grandson Jack.
