His Life
December 9, 2013

Our sweet Dad Bill Thompson died this morning peacefully in his sleep after a couple of years of increasing dementia and a brief illness. Born during the great depression in the coal mining region of Shenandoah, Pennsylvania and raised for many years of his childhood in the Catholic orphanage in Orwigsburg, he triumphed over extreme adversity to become an early pioneer of computer science (as adata systems analyst for the Navy during the Korean war), have continued success in that field throughout his life, and marry and raise a family of a son and seven daughters. He was a lot of fun and a darn good golfer (at least to hear him tell it). He was a great Dad and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren are all blessed to have had his love, wisdom, and tenacious encouragement in our lives. We will all miss him so very dearly.
