Christmas Card 2010

May 29, 2015

Here's the whole family in a Christmas card picture from 2010

O'Day Day Sailer

May 29, 2015

Here's Dad in his O'Day Day Sailer.  I remember he and I sailing this boat from Muskegon Lake up to White Lake for a summer at the Guest House.  On the way home we ran into huge swells and a big storm.  We tied ourselves to the boat and white knuckled it home safely.  He was a very good sailor.

Crusier

May 29, 2015

Everybody in Dad's family loved the cruiser his father bought to entertain company and family.  Here it is on White Lake.  Probably 1940's.

Honoree at Score

May 29, 2015

Dad got a lot of satisfaction out of mentoring newbie business owners at the Score government program.  His wall at home was covered with plaques for his many years of volunteer service both in San Francisco headquarters and Walnut Creek branch.

Close-up Photo

May 29, 2015

Here's a photo in the kitchen at Walnut Creek house in 2010.  Dad loved wearing those leisure suits - kind of like fancy sweat suits.

Pumpkin Carving

May 29, 2015

Here's another still from the family home movies.  We are carving pumpkins for Halloween.  Early 1960's.

Young Dad Feeding Laurie

May 29, 2015

Dad had a playful way with kids.  I can remember him taking a bunch of us kids on make believe adventures in the dunes.  I can still hear him shouting "Wagons Ho".

Flying Saucer with Dad and Me

May 29, 2015

I'm about 5 years old and having a blast sledding with Daddy.  This is probably 1960.  I took this still photo off an old reel to reel movie I have that we made into a digital file.

Dinner outside at Gilboa House

May 29, 2015
My Dad loved eating outside under the wisteria covered trellis that he and his neighbor George McCane built.  Summer 2002.

Dad and Me-Laurie

May 29, 2015

Christmas 2010.  We share the same color eyes and the Hall nose.

Hall Family

May 29, 2015

My Dad's nuclear family - Mom-Esther, Dad-William, William/Billy the oldest child, Alice Mae and Marylou.  My uncle Bruce hadn't been born yet.

Dad's Sloop

May 29, 2015

Here's my Dad sailing his sloop, he was in his twenties I believe and I'm guessing that the lake is White Lake in Montague Michigan.

Dad Relaxing

June 15, 2014

I never saw my Dad wear a pair of jeans.  He was always well dressed - even when he wore those red plaid dress pants, they were nicely pressed and he was always well groomed. He was quite handsome as a young man as was my Mom.  They made quite a striking couple.

June 15, 2014

Dad had a gentle sense of humor. He too became more and more gentle as he grew older.  He had a remarkable memory and would tell wonderful image filled reminisences from when he was growing up.  I miss him a lot.

Dad and his Flip

June 15, 2014

Dad loved to take pictures and videos at every family gathering.  Throughout his life he strove to learn every new technology that came along.  He loved his computer and how it let him see the world.  This photo shows him with his Flip video cam and yet another new Kagel hat on his head.

Dad at Christmas

June 15, 2014

Dad was always joyful and fun-loving on Christmas Eve opening the stockings.  He always wore his red Santa t-shirt or his Grinch Ba-Humbug t-shirt.  He couldn't wait to dig into the Swedish dishes that we had every holiday.  Here he is with his best friend Charlie, who never left his side.
