His Life

    William C Hempstead was born to Bertha and William Hempstead Sr on September 29, 1939.

    He was the eldest son of nine kids. Brother to Ronald and Donald Hempstead, Timothy and Margaret Quillivan, Judy Buehler-Frendrick and the late Manford and Albert Hempstead also ANNAMAE Bradley.

    William had three children His eldest son was Charles Hempstead and two daughters Brenda and Christina Hempstead. He had three step children. Oldest daughter Bonnie Osborn and sons William and Robert VanNatten. Daughter in law Stacy Monroe and son in law BURT McCumber.He left behind many grand children which include Devin Monroe, Destiny and Dakota Hempstead, James, Matt and Cameron VanNatten Mason Osborn, Brook VanNatten Logan and Evan McCumber,  Tyler Hempstead and Serenity Curless. He had one great grand daughter Italia Slingerland. FAMILY WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO WILLIAM.

      William grew up in Albany NY.  He had to quite school as a young boy to help raise and support his younger brothers and sisters. William had many different jobs in life which include working at a bowling alley, a mechanic, cook. ,food prep and at Sears oil working on barges.

     He had many different hobbies. William loved to go camping with his family and life long best friend Ann Pannitti. He loved to go fishing, wheather with his son at the basic or the river with his daughters sometimes fishing by himself or at camp with his grandsons. William loved to go hunting with his late brother Manford. But most of all he loved CARS, weather it be working on them changing the motor or driving  his sister to NYC for a cup of coffee.

      At the young age of 56  William was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema.  William was put into hospice care at the age of 67, he got to know many workers and volunteers from hospice but the one who stood above the rest was Marge Mccoy.  He enjoyed playing cards with Marge.  They would talk for for hours about the crazy things in life he had seen and done.  On December 12, 2012 WIlliam passed away peacefully with his daughter Brenda by his side.

    WILLIAM WILL BE IN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS FOREVER...FOREVER MISSED NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!!
