William Henry Barr, III, 47, of Chagrin Falls, passed away from a heart attack on January 18, 2022, while vacationing with his beloved wife and soulmate, Addy, in Rosemary Beach, Florida. Addy and William shared an uncommon love, making it almost impossible to see where one began and the other ended. They were truly connected to each other and generously shared their love with their family, friends, and strangers alike. The community often saw the pair walking their dogs, Ivy and Gray, around the village, collecting new friends along the way.

William had a strong mind, a quick wit, a big heart, a smile that lit up a room, and was a long-suffering Browns fan. An avid outdoorsman, William loved spending time at their farm, entertaining friends, and surprising his wife by bringing home new "toys".
A natural-born leader, William and his childhood friend, Mike Strmac, co-founded Universal Windows Direct. What started in a 300 square foot office became one of the nation's largest privately held home improvement companies, recently merging with Great Day Improvements and Champion Windows. William was looking forward to continuing his business and civic ventures, especially with the Unto Others Foundation, a family legacy foundation established by Addy and William.
William was loved, respected, and admired by hundreds of long-time colleagues and employees, many of whom were loyal friends from high school. He was known as an incredible mentor who delighted in the success of others. William often said that his extended kindness was given back ten-fold.

A 1992 graduate and Homecoming King of Fairview High School, William received countless awards, including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Crain’s Cleveland Business 40 Under 40. William authored a book entitled "Selling with Purpose: The Universal Way," https://www.amazon.com/dp/159932671X/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_Q169Z4B1Q2MVRJN1W00X and presented a highly influential Ted-X talk, https://youtu.be/13MYY8qMWQg  In addition, William served on the board of University Hospital Geauga and was honored by the many charities he and Addy generously supported.
William was the son of the late William and Patricia (Smith) Barr, and is survived by his cherished wife and soulmate Addy, in-laws Daniel and Gwen (Potts) Nash, sisters Maggie Nash, Amanda (James) Viles, and Pam (Chris) Bundy, nieces Willow Nash, Emily Bundy, nephew Christopher Bundy and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and too many friends to count.
A Catholic mass will commence at 1 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc in Chagrin Falls. The service will  stream live at https://www.stjoanofarcchurch.org/ A celebration of his life at The Federated Family Life Center in Bainbridge will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring William by contributing to he Unto Others Foundation.

Contributions can be given online at  The Unto Others Foundation | Unto Others Foundation (Powered by Donorbox) or mailed to Keybank 30100 Chagrin Blvd, Suite 100S, Pepper Pike, Ohio 44124, Attention: Michael Mendlovic.
Both Davis Watkins of Miramar, Florida and Stroud Lawrence of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, are handling arrangements.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we will meet again!

Dearest Addy,
I hope you remember me, I used to work at the neighborhood office years ago. You gave me that great book about the families of the 911 victims who were being touched by signs from their loved ones. I also helped with printing as you edited Bill's book numerous times. Oh Addy my heart is so saddened for you. I am sending my deepest heartfelt sympathies to you and your family. I'm going to send you a private note soon, but please know how very sorry I am, Bill was such a nice man. Sending you hugs and praying for peace for you.
Sincerely, Judy Williams

Addy, Dan and I were so shocked to hear of William's passing. From some of the articles we have read about him, he was an amazing person. You both were so perfect for each other. We only wish we could see you at this time. Just know that we will be with you in spirit on Saturday. We will be back in Ohio in June and maybe we could get together even if it is only for an hour. I am so happy that I can always say "I Love My Windows" from Universal Windows. You have our very deepest sympathies.

We have thought for the past few days how Judy and I remember William, and the friendship that we began to develop with Addy and he. He made an impact on us with his unassuming and selfless vision. William and Addy are givers, not in the “look at what I gave” manner in which some society charities operate, but in their unpretentious and genuinely altruistic approach. William told us that one of the best things that happened with the sale of his company was the opportunity it gave he and Addy to benefit others, much more than they had done in the past, through their charitable foundation.

William was an authentic individual, who, with Addy by his side, had the visualization, drive and determination to create an exceptional business, in an amazingly short period of time.

We were so grateful to have met and will greatly miss William; and will always remember him as a kind, thoughtful and generous soul.

We know that you and your family are devastated by his passing and we feel the utmost sadness for all of you. Please accept our heartfelt sympathies.

Bill Barr was the greatest salesman & home remodeling entrepreneur of all time.

He always challenged his peers to think bigger and set goals, and make them happen. Bill believed in me when I was a 20 year old with little to nothing to show for my work. Working with him gave me so much confidence as a young entrepreneur, and he changed my life forever.

Constant and never-ending improving wasn’t just a corporate slogan, it’s how Bill Barr lived and the standard he set for everyone around him. He went out of his way to help others become better, smarter, and was always there to push you and help you achieve your goals - even when it brought no benefit to himself. He made people better and the world will miss him for it.

Bill Barr is a legend, and lives on through the motivation and mentoring he gave thousands. We are lucky to have shared the earth with such a personally influential and amazing individual.

I was so sad to hear from Mary Anne the news of William’s passing. There are no words that can express how sorry we are. Though we haven’t seen you for awhile, we have good memories we will cherish. You and William were a perfect match. A nicer couple couldn’t be found anywhere.

Death is not a stranger to us and we will keep you in our prayers.

Sending my love and condolences to all that had the honor of knowing Bill. I didn't have the opportunity to get to know him on a personal level, but he and Mike have changed my life by allowing me to become a part of the UWD family. He always had a presence in the room and somehow, always knew how to bring out the best in everyone. The last message I received from him, was him thanking me for "kicking butt" for UWD. I will forever be grateful for his compassion and leadership.

A Message To Heaven

January 28, 2022
A Message To Heaven:
I am broken-hearted. I am devastated. Truly shattered inside at the sudden loss of my beloved, most favorite cousin William (Billy) Barr. Taken in the prime of his life…just 47. I am distraught, I am confused, I feel powerless, as it’s just so unfair and senseless. Why. Why. Why. A question I will not have an answer to until the next life it seems.
He was my idol. I would’ve jumped from a building if he said to, and he knew it. God—He was so talented, so loving, such a beautiful person to everyone. So many plans, so many ideas, always flowing, always dreaming and making those dreams into a reality for himself and everyone around him. Always making everyone feel special and like they could do anything. Whenever I was working on achieving goals or dreams, whatever it was, he would call me up and say such beautiful, motivating things that filled me with pride and were sure to keep me reaching even further for the stars. He was an expert at manifesting his destiny. At never giving up. At never losing hope and finding meaning in what he was doing, all the while, remaining the same adventurous kid inside.
He always had such a big heart for his ENTIRE FAMILY, both northern and southern. A true husband, son, brother and uncle to his beautiful and amazing wife Addy, her wonderful family, Gwen, Dan, & all the girls; a forever son to his Mom & Dad in Heaven; a second son to his Auntie Em & Uncle Bob, and Aunt Jessie & Uncle Bobby; and as close to a brother, as my sister Tina and I could have.
It is with disbelief and shock, as I put my feelings to pen, that I just can’t believe I will never see my dearest “Cuz” again. An emotion I know EVERYONE WHO KNEW & LOVED HIM is feeling right now. I’m so sad that we won’t hear his mischievous chuckle and laugh whenever he is cracking jokes and just being “little Billy” to all of us. Billy, we surely will miss your incredible presence when you walk in any room, as it always meant the fun would begin.
We will be remembering your incredible shining light most of all Cuz. Those cheerful rosy cheeks. Your energy, your excitement for life and living it up to the fullest. Your contagious messages to believe in one’s self, will forever be inspirational. As your life’s work WILL LIVE ON.
Your public speaking & TedxTalks, Authoring a bestselling Book on Sales, your corporate empire of UWD (Universal Windows Direct), and so many more achievements and good works you’ve accomplished, from having helped thousands of people have jobs, to giving back to sick and underprivileged children, along with all the incredibly loving things you have done for all your beloved family members, I could seriously write another book on just how AWESOME you have been in this life, and always will be to ALL of us.
Cousin Bill, what you have achieved and built at such a young age was designed by God and your parents in heaven. It was no accident. You had a mission. Now it seems it was accomplished. You were meant to touch so many peoples lives, get to the finish line, and then—in true “William” form, you were out, and onto the next. I just don’t think any of us were ready for this next business plan to take effect until you were atleast 99 or 100.
The unique thing about you and our close knit Barr Family, is we revel in the thousands of hilarious memories we’ve made. So many crazy stories of growing up together, cheering, joking, laughing, supporting eachother from the sidelines since forever. Whether Xmas at Moms, camping, fishing, birthdays.
So now, even at this darkest hour of sadness, I must thank God for the amazing memories we all made together over the years, and especially most recently, at the farm over the summer. Our last time with you. Baby Violet will hold onto the memories of her Uncle Boom teaching her how to ride her 1st 4wheeler, fish, and shake on a deal to earn someone’s business. You would be proud to know she was shaking on a deal just yesterday with a little neighbor boy, hand held out firmly, asking if they had a deal, just as you showed her. I guess you were there chuckling with me in spirit, as this happened before I knew you were already gone.
Instead of searching for answers, I suppose I will have to trust in God that He needed one of his MOST INSPIRATIONAL ANGELS to do even bigger work somewhere else.
Words can’t express the gratitude and love we will all feel for you forever Billy. We will never ever forget all the moments together, and will forever feel so proud of you and all the lives you touched.
We will miss you soo much in this life together, as this is the hardest part. We will miss the big bear hugs and smiles. Instead, We will close our eyes and see your spirit there. I know you will not be far.
So we Thank you Billy for giving this life and your family, your absolute all. You will now be eternally celebrated by God, the Angels, by all your family in Heaven and on earth, as you reunite with your Mom & Dad, our Grandparents, and of course, your bestfriend Scouty, sitting by your side. May God hold you and keep you in his loving arms safe and fulfilled always.  We will love you forever.
Amen.
