This memorial was created in memory of our beloved Son~Father~Grandson~Brother & Friend
William Joseph Gilbert, 29,passed away on December 30, 2016.
Born on November 2, 1987 Abington, Pennsylvania
Son of William Lance Gilbert & the late Elise Elizabeth Sperling/Gilbert
Billy was a great kid growing up. If you got to know him you loved him. He played the sport of the season. He loved Philly sports teams & was a Diehard Eagles fan. He loved his 3 sons more than life itself. He had a great smile and sense of humor. He was definitely one of the silliest kids I ever met. If you take the time to view the photos you will see the love his friends and family had for him & he loved them back. That’s why it hurts so much to lose him to this horrible evil disease and we can only pray that the world wakes up to truly help these people beat it not cope with it and yes they are people they are your children, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers.
Billy is survived by his sons Caiden 7, Liam 6 & Evan 4, Sister Taylor Lynn Gilbert & Jeff Wolford w/ children Jeffrey & Ryleigh, Brother Justin Gilbert & Danielle Ray, Grandparents Patricia & Frank Strassacker, Lance & Arleen Gilbert, Jim & Lisa Sperling, Janice & Richard Shelton. Aunt Anita O'Shea, Uncles James Sperling, Brian & Shaun Sperling. William & Joseph Shelton. Stepmother Lisa Gilbert Stepbrother, Derek Banfill & Stepsisters, Kayla & Madison Banfill
Per Billy's wishes, if he were to pass there would be no public viewing & he would be laid to rest next to his mother. The burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial fund we set up for Billy's sons Caiden, Liam & Evan Gilbert. This fund is to benefit the future of the boys. A little goes a long way.

I am sorry about Mr. Gilbert's passing. Thinking about a love one who can no long laugh or tell us jokes can bring pain. For we who have experience this pain we can encourage you to keep looking forward. For the resurrection is sure and then the enemy death will be no more. We have God's promise that his word is true. Your son is sleeping. God will comfort and heal your crushed heart. "To revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of those being crushed." (Isaiah 57:17) He understands your pain, and your suffering. Soon as he did for his son (John 3:16), he promise to do for yours. John 6:40 states " For this is the WILL of God, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day.” Reflect, and have faith and comfort in those words, in time, you and Billy's boys will be there to embrace your son, and all of your loved ones again.

It's been years since I've Billy, Heather, and the kids, but I remember them well and fondly. I'm so so sorry to hear about Billy's passing. He was always so happy and full of life.

I've known of you since the 6th grade but I never got the honor of becoming your friend becuase I was too shy to approach you and looking back I regret that because from what I can see and from what I hear, you were a pretty awesome person ! This tribute is so beautiful. It breaks my heart to see your family and loved ones suffering, but you are not suffering anymore. It's so comforting to know that you are not alone and with your mother. Your boys are amazing and I feel so blessed to be able to spend time with them. What a beautiful tribute to Billy. Although I've only been in his company a handful of times I know a lot about the kind of person he was through Jeff & Taylor. I believe we all became one big family through them and my heart goes out to all of you. I know he will be terribly missed, but always remember the happiness, laughter & joy he brought into the lives of his friends and loved ones. By these beautiful pictures I can see how much he was loved and how much love he had to give. God rest his soul. He is now at peace.

Oh, sweet, kind, wonderful Billy, I have loved you since you were a little Marlin! You were so spunky, athletic and funny, but the thing I remember the most is your heart - you loved so big and so bright. Whenever I think of you, I will see you and your mom hugging each other tight and I will say a prayer for those who are struggling here on earth.

So happy to see this picture! My first concert we went to see nickleback I even went out and got that terrible outfit especially for the concert. We had an awesome time and some serious games of Hacki sack. I have so many great memories with billy when we were younger. He was my first boyfriend and the first boy I ever loved. Even though I haven't seen or spoken to him in a while I have memories that will last a lifetime! My heart breaks for the family and the boys I am so very sorry for your loss.
