Mr. William Worley Ivey, Jr., 76 year old resident of Valley, Alabama, died Friday, September 2, 2011, at his residence.

Mr. Ivey was born Monday, September 17, 1934, in Carrollton, Georgia, the son of the late Marie Sullivan and William Worley Ivey, Sr. He was a graduate of Carrollton High School and attended Troup Technical College. Mr. Ivey served in the United States Air Force. He had been a driver for Goody’s and retired from Georgia Highway Express with 33 years. Mr. Ivey loved to garden, fish and work on old cars, and enjoyed going to yard sales. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Ivey was preceded in death by his son William Gregory Ivey and his brothers Harold and Howard Ivey. He is survived by his wife Yvonne Ivey of Valley, Alabama; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Zane West of Lanett, Alabama; one son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Donna Ivey of Valley, Alabama; 5 grandchildren, Stephen Cheek, Noah West, Miranda, Ivey, Dakota Whaley and Landon Whaley; and 2 sisters, Helen Huddleston of Panama City, Florida and Barbara Richardson of Hogansville, Georgia.

Funeral services for Mr. Ivey will be held Sunday, September 4, 2011, at 1:00 PM EDT from the graveside at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Reverend Brad Reed will officiate. The family will greet friend Saturday evening, September 3, 2011, from 6:00 PM EDT until 8:00 PM EDT at McCarthy Funeral Home.
