I was blessed to have William (Buddy) as my older cousin. He looked so much like his father, Bud, that whenever I saw him I found myself calling him "Uncle Buddy". Throughout the decades I would hear that Bud would be off in another state volunteering his time and expertise to help the victims of various disasters. His benevolence and kind-hearted spirit was always evident at family gatherings, Bud was easy to love and admire.  Bud's mirth and impishness may have come from his Irish genes but his father was pretty funny too. I vividly recall his marriage to Cecilia, on January 23rd - as my family was seated at his reception table. He and Cecilia had much smooching to do as the guests kept ringing their dinner glasses with their forks. They looked so happy together then and that love proven by the duration of their union throughout the decades. Spending much time with his siblings Kevin and Mary Rose back in the 1970s gave me access to Cousin Buddy, who was almost 10 years older - his love for life was ever-evident. William's love and devotion to his family was always paramount and we respect him deeply for it.
I remember you cousin Buddy with a smile and a distant look in your eyes as you were imagining a better world for all of us. God rest your soul in peace - Amen.

I have known Bud Colfer as a neighbor and a friend for over 40 years. We voluntered together in the 80's in the Howell South LL Senoir League, Cub and Boy Scouts as our sons made their way into adulthood. I came to know him as an honest and honorable man dedicated to his family and interested in his community. Generous of purpose and of spirit, he paid the entire tab for a Scout awards banquet one year and requested not to be recogonized as the benefactor. This one act spoke volumes of the man..RIP my friend
