His Life

Mr. Willie Bailey, was born April 9, 1933 to the parentage of the late Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Lee Will Bailey, Sr. in Chambers County, AL  He departed his earthly home on May 24, 2017 at the East Alabama Medical Center-Lanier Nursing Home, Valley, AL.

Will accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Liberty CME Church, Cusseta, AL. He later moved his membership and united with the Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David Core. In later years he united with the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jackie Banks, where he remained until his passing.  “Dodie”, as he was known by many, was involved in the church. He received several certificates for his many accomplishments.

He was employed by LongshoreMenis Association with over 25 years of service before his retirement.

Willie was preceded in death by his by two sisters, Carolyn Tolbert and Hazel Nellom; four brothers, Lonnie “2” Gunn, Edward Lee Bailey, Sr., John Will Bailey and Jim “Bo” Bailey, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bailey.

He leaves to cherish is precious memories: four daughters, Jimmie Sue Scott, Bernetta Scott, Lorraine Scott, Lanett, AL and Hilda Carr, Kansas City, KS; one son, James J. Scott, Lanett, AL; his companion, Mannie R. Edwards, Valley, AL; a devoted sister-in-law, Annie Thelma Bailey, Lanett, AL; nieces, Gloria(Robert)Tyner, Anita(Donwell)Kashiri, Bonita Hicks, Lanett, AL; nephews, Edward L. Bailey(Sara),  John Lee Bailey, Michael(LaMerl) Bailey, Daniel Lewis Bailey, Jeffery Bailey, Lanett, AL; Jerome(Tracy)Bailey, Atlanta, GA, an array grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
