In Loving Memory of Wilma DeJong


A graveside commitment service was held on March 25, 2013 with close family and friends in attendance.  Reverend Mark Tilly of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Prescott, AZ officiated.  Joseph Place sang a beautiful a cappella rendition of "Amazing Grace".  Those in attendance shared some memories of Wilma and laid flowers on her casket.

 Wilma was born on a farm at Long Island, KS in 1937 where she spent her early childhood.  The family later moved to Boyden, Iowa in 1946 where she graduated from Boyden High School in 1956.

 Soon after graduation she found employment as a telephone operator in Sheldon, IA where she continued to work until 1971 when she moved to Prescott Valley, AZ.  She transferred employment to the telephone office in Prescott, AZ where she worked in various administrative positions until she retired.

 In December 1975 she was united in marriage with Frans DeJong at the Prescott Presbyterian Church.  Wilma lived in Prescott Valley, AZ until shortly before her passing when she moved to an assisted living apartment in Prescott, AZ.

 Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Frans in 2005.  She is survived by one sister Marjorie Kuyper, one brother Ronald Engelsman and two nephews, Bruce Kuyper and Loren Kuyper.

 Wilma was interred at Mountain View Cemetary, Prescott, AZ.
