I remember the first time he convinced my parents to rent a house for a few weeks in the summer on Tenants Harbor. I was in my first year of college(30 years ago) and I thought "what a boring vacation this will be". Yet, every night at cocktail hour, we would sit on the porch and watch the seals come into the harbor and they would play and hunt for fish. My dad rented a huge sailboat and we sailed up the coast to Camden; the whole way we never saw another sailboat. Yep! That was it! We all got it! This was just one of the many gifts Wilson gave my family. After that, we spent the next 30 years summering in Maine.
My thoughts and memories can go on for pages and yet I still try to understand this very private, yet deep man who was my uncle yet young enough to be my older brother. I know I will never be able to answer those questions, but one thing I do know is he taught me many things. The love of peace, nature and the gift of one's time to another. I will try to hold on to that and share my time with others as he did for me and my family. Time is the true treasure in this life and he made sure we made time for each other every year, no matter how busy we were in our lives
