Winfield Smith, Jr. (Winnie), 65, passed away on March 6, 2022 at his sister’s residence in Monroeville.

Winnie was born on July 14, 1956, in Salem County to Winfield Smith, Sr. and Bertha Hoffman, and beloved son of the late Charles H. Stanton and Ethel G. Stanton. He graduated from Pennsville Memorial High School in 1974. And, he graduated from Salem County Technical school with a dry cleaner certificate in 1974. He worked as a truck mechanic for many years, and most recently worked as kitchen staff at the United Methodist Communities. Winnie served in the USMC from 1974 to 1980.  Winnie loved the “Eagles” and playing the lottery.

Winnie is survived by his spouse, Deborah L. Smith of Pennsville, New Jersey.  He is survived by his family, Sons: Victor Smith (wife Kathy), Joshua Smith (wife Christy); Brothers/Sisters: Theresa Frie (husband Paul), Bertha Altman (husband Bill), Robert Ladislaw Jr. (wife Mary), Eileen Ladislaw, Shelly Schweiger (husband Dave), Russell Stanton, Edward Stewart, and Bill Caban.  Winnie has one grandson, Ryder Smith.

Interment will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Association or the American Cancer Society.

I remember when He was first out of boot camp and He had mess duty (We all had mess duty to learn to fend for ourselves, that was the pupose.) And He was working in the NCO section where I was dining, And it sure was great to run into someone I knew from home !
