This legacy site was created to celebrate the life of Winifred "Winnie"
A. Reitman Easton-Jones -- mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, spouse, friend, teacher, mentor, learner, daughter, extended family member, artist, writer, consultant, and more. As we explore memory, we remember Winnie's passions for creative teaching, writing, and art-making, as well as her qualities of joy, love, compassion, intelligence, humor, zest for life -- and an everpresent joie-de-vivre.

wonderful mentor and friend
I first met Winnie about a year ago as my french teacher at Penobscot School. She was a wonderful teacher and so patient with me in learning "the structure of the french language" that she loved. I felt an immediate bond with her and she with me. My mother had just passed and she became as she said " an older sister to me". During our purchase of a house and opening of our B&B she was very supportive and offered suggestions along the way with all of her experience as B&B owner with Howard of whom she spoke so lovingly and frequently .
( The picture I posted is of she and I at the opening of our B&B. She was so beautiful, happy and delightful that night. ). She gave me a guest book that now has comments in it and I will always treasure it.
I loved her stories of living in France. We did some private lessons of late during which I learned French and we shared friendship and warmth. I will never forget her. She had such an abilty to make a person feel so valued and special. A few days before she died she left me a very garbled message on my phone before we were leave for France for a holiday It was long and I wish I could have heard it all. I did understand only" I am glad you are having this trip and I love you." I will always remember those words. I love you too Winnie. I look forward to meeting her children at the memorial gathering . Anne McMath

Painting by Winnie 2003
We inspired one another, each in our own creative ways. She gave me this painting by her. The time of the gift was October, 2003. She inscribed it to say,
For Skye who opens the paths to "I've arrived, I'm here, I'm home, I'm now!"
Much love, Winnie.
And so it is, dear lady, you've arrived, you're home, you are now and you continue to inspire us to be our creative selves, to embrace life to the fullest. Love, Skye
