Wyelene Carol Haase, age 55, resident of Henderson, NV, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Dec. 13, 2018. She was born in Faribault, MN, daughter of Roland and Shirley (Nelson) Haase. She grew up in Owatonna, MN, and graduated from Owatonna High School, Class of 1982. She continued her education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. After graduation she married her now former husband, Kim Sheppard, and relocated to Washington, D.C.

Wyelene had a distinguished career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) from 1987 until her retirement. As a Special Agent, she worked her first assignment in the Las Vegas Division. She transferred to FBI Headquarters in 2004 and retired out of the San Francisco Division in March 2018. Her career involved investigating telemarketing fraud, organized crime, human trafficking, and counterterrorism. She received a number of commendations during her 30-year career.

Wyelene was a gifted artist and loved to make pottery, beautiful stained-glass pieces, and unique beaded jewelry. She enjoyed traveling and was always ready to try new adventures such as skiing, snorkeling, kayaking, or zip lining. She also looked forward to participating in the annual ‘Baker to Vegas’ Law Enforcement Relay Race as support personnel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Shirley (Nelson) Haase. Survived by her sister, Lorraine (Scott) Anderson of New Hope, MN, and brother Dean (Karin) Haase of Mounds View, MN. She leaves behind her feline companions, Raven and Daisy, family members and friends who will remember her smile, warmth, and her love. Wyelene was a kind and helpful person and will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mr. Randolph Garcia, I'm 63 years old & a resident of SF, CA(not the town it once was I can assure you!). I am also an FBI Federal retiree. As I recall, I retired from the SF FBI where I worked my whole career in a support capacity doing everything & anything needed. I have the scars to prove it too, mentally at least. I retired in January 2018 after 30 years/5 months of service. I worked here & there w/the late Agent Haase & found her to be a most capable & hard working agent w/a very wry sense of humor which I liked. I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to her & now sadly never will, but I remember her somewhat well & quite fondly. Sadly she makes 9 former co-workers who have passed on since I retired. I didn't know her that well, but I do miss her indeed & will always remember her both professionally & on a truly human likeable basis. Gone too soon! (RIP) (SA) Wyelene Haase. -Randolph G in SF, CA.

I remember Wylene at confirmation and Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church while growing up but I think the real bonding moment I remember was swimming for Gym class at the OHS pool and those hideous swim suits we had to wear!. Her family was always welcoming, always smiling. Thank you for whomever put the video together. it was nice to see a long lost friend's life unfold...but ending way too soon.

Lorraine and the Haase family--So surprised but very sorry to hear of your loss. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers for peace and solace...may the memories you shared of good times together soothe your pain and provide you with some comfort.

Wy and I met in DC in 2005. We'd meet to go to a funky restaurant or take in a movie or mostly go shopping (she loved that!) We'd also attend events, such as Nat'l Police Week in DC, or take rides in my Jeep (the bumpier the better for her) and sometimes we'd even work together. But always we had a good time. After her departure from DC in 2007, we kept in touch and we would also visit each other. My life in Washington hasn't been the same since you moved and it won't be even more so going forward. Miss you, Wy!

I first met Wyelene when I first arrived in the Las Vegas Div of the FBI. Wyelene was an excellent FBI Agent. She worked extremely hard and was always willing to drop everything to assist another Agent or friend. From 2006 - 2007, I was fortunate enough to have worked directly for Wyelene at FBI HQ. I will miss your kindness and friendship. RIP

I and others in the Haase family were so proud to often tell of Wyelene, my niece, and her illustrious career in the FBI. I knew she was dedicated to each FBI assignment, even though she never talked of the risks she often faced as a US Special Agent. I'll miss my beautiful, talented and greatly loved niece, as will so many of her colleagues & friends. Rest in Peace, Dear Wyelene

Wyelene was a contributor to the annual "Tamale making" event at our house. I remember when she quietly asked what she was suppose to do with the corn husk. She wasn't quite sure she could eat it. haha Wy was my movie buddy and a very good friend. She will be missed by many for her kindness and good nature.

Remembering laughing so hard ... the time I checked on your cats (LV) while you were at an in-service in WDC and found what appeared to be marijuana on your kitchen counter (I thought left behind by your housekeeper) ... I called to tell you and you laughed so hard ... turned out to be cat nip. Ha! I wasn't a cat person then - didn't know what cat nip was. I miss you my friend. I haven't stopped thinking of you. RIP.

Happy Chef

January 8, 2019

I graduated from Owatonna with Wyelene. More importantly we worked together at Happy Chef and became good friends. Wy had the biggest and most beautiful smile. It wasn't uncommon that on Fridays and Saturdays many of us would work a split shift. We would be off at 9pm and have to be back at midnight for the bar rush. Often we'd hop in Wyelene's, I think it was a Buick and cruise around, stopping at Hardee's or elsewhere and just goof off. I didn't have a car and more often than not she would give me a ride home after work. In the winter, she refused to start the car and let it warm up before leaving cause she wanted to save gas money! Wy and I reconnected via the miracle of Facebook about 5 years ago. I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. Always grateful for her friendship.
