• F.T.C.D Fellow of Trinity College Dublin 2010
• Institute of Immunology, Moscow Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)Immunology and Allergy 1990 - 1995
• First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M. Sechenov Doctor of Medicine (MD)A Grade Honors 1979 - 1985

Experience

Full Professor
Trinity College Dublin
He has been working at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Trinity College Dublin since 1995. Professor Yuri Volkov is the Director of Research of the School of Medicine and Chair of Molecular and Translational Medicine.
• He published a number of breakthrough papers in Immunology, Advanced Imaging, Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine. 199 peer-reviewed publications - 40 non-peer reviewed publications.
• He was among the inventors of Cellix Ltd. Technology and the developers of advanced nanotechnologies focus on cancer detection.
• The Nanomedicine and Molecular Imaging group was his research group which he founded since 2005.
• Lecturer to the 1st Year Medical Students.
• Course coordinator and lecturer to the 2nd Year Medical students.
• Lecturer to the students of Moscow State Sechenov Medical University, Moscow, Russian Federation.
• Taught 10,000 plus students.
• Led or was involved in over 30 scientific research projects – largest budget 12 million.
• Collaborated with endless international partners which also spanned across every discipline present in college, from Chemistry, Physics and Biochemistry, to the Arts and Humanities.
• Led the largest project awarded to him with 22 international partners and won the most prestigious award “Best Flash European project 2015” at the Euro Nano Forum for his project NAMDIATREAM.
• Created and developed new scientific processes and technologies such as the discovery and characterization of the crucial impact of intracellular phosphorylation enzyme of the protein kinase C family - PKC-beta for the process of T cell migration. Success of these studies has been made possible through the implementation of the cutting edge High Content Screening Analysis (HCSA) cell and molecular imaging technologies. As a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Molecular Medicine, Prof. Volkov has made a key contribution into establishing of the HCSA Centre in Trinity College which represents a state-of-the art facility in the academic institution at the international level. Prof. Volkov has formed a large-scale interdisciplinary alliance between the Schools of Medicine, Physics, and Chemistry at Trinity College aimed at the development of new nanoscale molecular imaging and drug delivery systems.
• Discovered how to generate rubies
