From her birth, Yvonne personified strength in our family. Memories of Yvonne include her playing with her ball; stacking alphabet blocks in her bucket; turning the pages of books until she requested a new one. Watching her run as a little girl, laughing all the way, presumably because of the jiggle of her body or the sheer joy in the freedom of running; watching her strum her guitar or sing a cappela from her vast repertoire of music, with a sweet smile on her face. Yvonne loved music, from Jose’ Feliciano’s Feliz Navidad ; John Denver’s Rocky Mountain High; Tupac’s California, Michael Jackson’s This Girl is Mine, her favorite of his; Bobby McFerrin’s Be Happy; and so many more. Raised Catholic, and with a deep faith, reciting her prayers so well with family and at church, Yvonne also engaged in call-and-response with the priest during the homily.

Yvonne was pre-deceased by her parents, Freeman, Sr. and Mary, and little brother Christopher. Yvonne leaves behind her siblings: older sister, L’Tanya, twin little sister, Yvette, big brother, Freeman, Jr., and little brother, Ronald; and many extended family. Family and friends will remember Yvonne for the loving, warm, resilient, talented, and incredibly witty person who always openly shared herself with us.

Time spent with Yvonne would mask her medical diagnosis from infancy of Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled (IDD). Our family never knew a more giving, kind, and pure-in-Spirit person on this side of Paradise. As her siblings, we are deeply and profoundly saddened that we can no longer experience the marvelous person of our sister, Yvonne.

God has blessed you, ‘Vonne, and called you home to be with Him, Mommy and Daddy, and Christopher. How blessed are we to have been in your Light. We love you forever.

Hey Miss Robinson!

Hi Vonne,
The very last time I saw you, you were sleeping peacefully; I touched your hair gently and gave you a kiss. Lil' sister Vette told me you had been sleeping more than usual, and I could see that things had changed, but I didn't realize how much.

The news of the angels escorting you Home was unexpected; however, I may not understand why, but I realize that God summons us into HIS kingdom for a reason. He knew you had served your time well- being a joyful, playful, loving, kind, and musically-minded woman. You gave so much of yourself to us and many others who shared their love for you!

I loved your infectious happy-go-lucky spirit Vonne; you will definitely shine bright amongst the angels in Heaven. Take care of mom, dad, and Christoher and all extended family members that you encounter in your journey. 

I will always think of you whenever I hear Michael Jackson sing. You always sang his songs with ferver and conviction!  You will always be his Number 1 Fan in my book!  

I love you Vonne, or should I say "Miss Robinson!" :)
