Our family was celebrating my son's birthday tonight. The waitress brought us a bear dedicated to Zach and his favorite restaurant. I was so moved and it was a very special night for my son. I wanted to look up zach's story and extend my condolances. I teared up as I explained to my son about the bear and the little angel behind the kindness. Thank you so much. Your Zach was in my heart the entire evening ❤

When he came back from Memphis because everyone in the school is outside their classroom chanting Zach. It was a special moment because even if he didn’t know you he still gave you a high five and that’s what made him special because he is so kind to people and I knew he wouldn’t make me sad, he would make me happy and laugh. Another thing I remember when he was walking down the hallway is that everyone was wearing green and there were posters and I could see tears of joy on everyone’s faces that Zach was back. Then after the hour of smiles up to our eyes we went inside our classroom and started to ask Zach questions about Memphis and we gave him hugs and high fives. Then we started to play a game when you were split into groups and I was on his team and every time we got a point he gave me the brightest smile and high fived me and I had that was the biggest smile I had ever had and on that very special day no one and I mean no one in our school was unhappy. Everyone had big smiles and tears of joy.

Team Zach

I remember when Zach had a life size wrestling mat and he had this one move that always got me down and I never caught on to it. We would play football at recess (and soccer), and eat together at lunch. When I had to read to him in fourth grade I was so nerves about it. Then when we sent it, the next day I got a letter in the mail that was from Zach’s mom saying thank you.

We use to play football until he got sick and once he passed away that day was bad for me but I am so sorry for your loss and I bet he is happy looking down at you guys.

My first memory of Zach was in 3rd grade at recess when he couldn’t go outside because he didn’t have that much energy from having a tumor. Zach would pick 4 people to stay inside with him he picked Cooper, Jocelyn, Taylor, and me. At the end of the day we would stack all of the chairs but we had the ball chairs instead or the normal ones and Zach wanted to play hide and go seek so of course we did because we didn’t think of anything else. And Zach wanted to hide so we hid him from Taylor and we hid him under all of the balls and Taylor was looking for like 8 minutes and still couldn’t find him and Cooper, Jocelyn, and me were all laughing so hard. But Zach started to laugh and Taylor eventually found him but we were all laughing it was so funny. But then we played a couple more games and had to go to lunch.

My second memory of Zach was every day he would play with a person who didn’t have a friend to play with and everyday he would be more excited about being with a new friend.

Zach was always so happy and kind to anyone he sees, he would wave or smile or do both.

TEAM ZACH

My 1st memory of Zach was in kindergarten. Me and Zach would play on the playground outside and we would have a lot of fun because he was a funny person to hang out with, he was a fun person to hang out with.

My 2nd memory of Zach was when he would play with other kids if they had no one to play with at the playground, and one time that was me. Zach came to play with me and it made me happy because I had a lot of fun with Zach.

My 3rd memory of Zach was in second grade we were going on a field trip and I did not want to go but Zach got me to go.

It was a shock when Zach passed away because he was one of my best friends in the world, and the only real Friend I had at that time and he was a riley good friend. I am sad he passed away.

The last memory I had with Zach was when he came up to me and asked to play a game. When he was with us this was not much but in my opinion, today this is an AMAZING thing. This goes to show you never know you have a good friend until you lose them. Any ways today on November 16, 2016 has been one whole year since a really nice, kind, brave boy sadly past away. Zach will always have a place is my heart and nobody can take that away. I hope Zach is in a good place and that he is safe. I don’t think anybody will ever fill the hole that Zach left in everybody he had known.
