I have been a friend of Anissa’s since I was a little girl. Anissa used to baby sit me! We are friends to this day and she never hesitates to take the time to talk to me, encourage me, and give me wise counsel. I have known the Shbaros for as long as I can remember.
When I think of the Shbaros, the first thing that comes to mind is the strength and wisdom of the women.
Carolee always invited me into her home in Westchester and there was always something to smell, such as the amazing cooking she was attending to or the fragrance of the candles and whatever other secrets she had up her sleeve to make a home feel inviting and loving, She even decorated my home and did a brilliant job! Carolee knows how to make a house a home. She always has an encouraging word to everyone she meets and a silent strength which has amazed me over the years. A truly classy lady. Harry picked an amazing woman!
Anissa has been there for me through thick and thin. A friend I can count on forever. Her strong resolve and love for life is evident in all she does. Her passion for the next generation and her teaching skills are top notch. Anissa gives her best to all she puts her mind to. She is a gem. Harry raised an amazing woman!
Suzanne has always been someone I look up to as a smart woman who is a hard worker, a caring person, and someone who has an amazing family and children of her own. Suzanne has a smile for everyone and a caring spirit. These qualities have been evident to me for years. Harry raised an amazing woman!
Olivia, who I am just getting to know is so bright and polite. An amazing future ahead. As the saying goes “The World is your oyster.” It was so great to talk to you at the memorial about all of your future plans and what great things you will bring to this world! Your Grandfather would be proud. Harry raised an amazing Granddaughter!
So, in closing, I think I respect Harry for many things such as his listening ear, his calmness, and his love of travel. But...as I reflect, I respect him most for the way he treated his wife and raised his daughters and grandchildren.
Thank you Harry for your amazing example and know the world will miss you.
And to the women Harry influenced, keep shining and know this is the type of man we need more of on this earth. ❤️

Harry was a God-send into my life when we moved next door to him in 1978. Knowing he was a mechanic, I never had far to go for assistance to work on my car, or any other thing I had going on. I can remember brake jobs lasting into the evening and Harry was with me all the time. I missed him when his employment would take him out of town, and I miss him now. I still need a 'supervisor'. I consider myself blessed to have lived next door to him. You were a blessing to our entire family, up one generation and down two.
Rest in Peace, my friend, and know we all miss and love you. You left big shoes to fill.

We will miss Uncle Harry so much and are sending our love from the East Coast. Some of my earliest memories are when Aunt Carolee and Uncle Harry came to visit. When he picked us up from school, the three of us girls “tricked” him into taking a bunch of wrong turns into dead ends and he played along masterfully, making big exaggerated turning motions with his hands on the steering wheel and saying, “Really? This is the right way!?” I remember him reading the Aladdin book to Lizzie and acting out the scenes with gusto and pronouncing the characters names properly in Arabic, only to be corrected by the 5 year old about the American movie pronunciation. I remember playing on the beach at his condo in FL with coffee cans and spoons. And I remember his “kick-sy, kick-sy” tickling game. But more than any of those specific moments, I remember him filling our time together with joy and teaching us that adults could sometimes create more fun than the kids could. I will miss him and cherish those memories and lessons forever.

Such a beautiful tribute that captures so well the essence of Harry! Mr. Shbaro was a part of all of my important life events: graduations, wedding, etc. he was like a second father to me especially since I spent so much time at the house playing with Anissa as a kid and later just hanging out as a teenager. I will always remember Harry’s ready smile, his vast wealth of knowledge/stories and his adventurous spirit. He has inspired me to go out and see the world and explore as much as I can. If I can only see half of what he did I think I’ll be doing okay! Family (and extended “family” like me) were so important to Harry which I saw in the way he was always interested in what I was doing, how my kids were and what they were up to. He cared so much about those he loved and I am grateful to be included as a part of the Shbaro family for all these years. Harry left an indelible mark on me which has already manifested itself in my desire to be a lifelong learner and world traveler. Each trip I take I will always think of his footsteps preceding mine, encouraging me to live life to the fullest. For this, and all of the love and support he has shown me throughout my life I am eternally grateful.

Sending our love and condolences from down under, Melbourne Australia.
We cherished every minute we spent with Zuhair and loved his free spirit.
Zuhair loved photography and always remember Zuhair asking us to wear red for the photo
My daughter Jenna referred to Zuhair as the uncle “who speaks funny”… not being used to his American accent.
I loved the story telling that Zuhair brought at his visits filling his younger brother Nizar (dad) with his adventures and wisdom on life. Mum’s cooking (Hind) was Zuhair’s highlight when visiting Australia as it reminded him of his mother’s dishes and his passion for the Lebanese cuisine.
Uncle Zuhair’s memories will always be in our hearts ♥️
Love you , miss you from your family in Australia:

*Malak, Khalil, Hassan & Jenna Sukkar

What a beautiful slide show and tribute to Mr. Shbaro. I loved seeing him, his travels, and growing family throughout the years. I learned so much about him from your lifestory Anissa. Harry's daughter Suzanne and I became instant friends when we attended Cal State Northridge. The Shbaros became a second family to me. I can see in the slide show when I entered into their lives (late 80's-big hair). Mr. Shbaro always looked fit and very engaged in life. He was usually coming or going on a bike ride when I was visiting, and Mr. and Mrs. Shbaro were typically planning their next big trip. I feel so blessed to know this wonderful family.  I am so happy to see Mr. Shbaro again in these beautiful photos, and see him young and dashing, visiting other lands, and then as a beloved grandfather. You can see the love you have for each other in these pictures. Sending my love to Mrs. Shbaro, Suzanne, Anissa, Ed, Jonathan and Olivia. A thousand plumerias to Mr. Shbaro and you all
