Zulfi leaves behind his Mother Rehana Merchant, Sister Naseem Merchant, beloved significant other, Victoria Graham and her daughter Haley Graham, his children Zahir Merchant and his wife Rae, Aliyah Merchant, Alton Merchant, Sophia Merchant, and Gabe Merchant.

Zulfi will be remembered on Tuesday 12/22/20 by family members at a graveside ceremony at Evergreen Baptist Church in Vance, AL with a memorial blood drive to be announced at a later time.

Zulfi grew up in Mumbai and moved to the USA to obtain his MBA at New Hampshire College. He was a loving father to his 5 children and a loyal friend to all. Zulfi was an avid long distance runner, a voracious reader who spoke several languages, and a gifted gardener. He grew all that he touched through love, patience, and joy - people and plants alike. Zulfi had a smile and dad joke for everyone, and worked tirelessly in the community volunteering in every way he could. He loved sports, music, good food, and life. He made the world a better place, and his absence will be felt by many for years to come.

We are so sorry for your loss. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Zulfi was such a special and wonderful part of our family. His smile and spirit were infectious to all around him. He was always smiling and happy and positive. Everyone loved being around him. Last year he join our annual haunted house outing and he just made it that much more fun. He was so “scared he crouched down and we had to make him get up and walk thru the rest of the haunted house. We all laughed like crazy. There was always laughter and happiness when Zulfi was around. The Lotts will miss our dear friend/family.
