I wrote your name on the sand .... but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name on the sky .... but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name on my heart .... and forever it will stay.

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

Till memory fades and life departs, you live forever in our hearts.

In loving memory of Pa Alexander Ambe Okala,

Happy Heavenly Birthday Grandpa!

Today would have made you 86 and I bet you would've been doing the Jerusalema dance right along with Grandma. I don't know if you know this but nyango Mary is a pro now. If you don't believe me, ask her CWA group. Its been 10 years since you passed but I can still remember the last time I visited you like it was yesterday. We miss you so much grandpa. Life hasn't been the same without your smile. I have some jist for you. Its been 7 years since I gave you a written update on life so here we go...

Your grandkids have been graduating from highschool, college, getting married and making money haha! They are all doing their best in their respective corners of the world by the grace of God. We try to stay in touch and there have even been a few family reunions. The older cousins are pretty close and the younger ones are following suit. Needless to say, the Okala-Ambe blood line is still going strong. The family is on a mission to continue to support each other and although family drama is inevitable, it always makes for a good laugh.

We may be going to Cameroon in December. Every time we go to Douala, I imagine you sitting in your chair next to the radio and sending people to buy us drinks. Well, I'm sure you know this but grandma got rid of your radio. You have to admit, that thing was getting old haha. Saturday mornings with you and your radio stations were the best. I have too many memories to count and I'm choosing to remember the best of them. When you were agile, full of life and a pro with the iron.

Grandpa, you were always such a great listener. Maybe that's why I'm giving you all this jist. From the time I can remember you always wanted to hear our stories about everything... boarding school, aspirations and my perspective on certain topics. Its just dawning on me that maybe we should have gotten you to tell us more of your stories. It fascinates me every time Madam tells me tid-bits about your life growing up and how you were raised as a little boy and a young man in the 50s and 60s. When I get to Heaven, I want to hear it from the horse's mouth. So get those stories ready grandpa. We have more jist to catch up on the next time we meet.

With Love,
Queen

Never completely understood or did fathom what it meant and felt like to lose a parent especially of this caliber, till I personally did!
Indeed parents have, are and will always be the only pure unadulterated love on earth!
Never to be forgotten indeed

I still remember very vividly how brave you were and how impressed I was being your doctor at the hospital and how even death looming ahead don't shake your lion brace heart! And I don't think I will ever forget your sweet smile you were wearing on your face, nor will I forget the jovial affect in the face of toughest situations!

PROTEUS ENOW AKO - Peace be with you!

For some, suffering doesn't end with death.

Some souls suffer in Purgatory as they go through a purification before entering the Kingdom of Heaven.

Let's pray for all souls who suffer in Purgatory.

May Mary, Undoer of Knots, intercede for them.

Here are the prayers for today:

Day 8 - The Novena to Our Lady, Undoer of Knots
(Audio/Video Version)

Virgin Mother of God, overflowing with mercy, have mercy on your child and undo this knot [mention your request here] in my life.

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exist in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that exists in my life. You know very well how desperate I am, my pain, and how I am bound by these knots. Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life. No one, not even the evil one himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands there is no knot that cannot be undone. Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot.

[Mention your request here]

I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all. You are my hope.
O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution, and, with Christ, the freedom from my chains. Hear my plea. Keep me, guide me, protect me, o safe refuge!

Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

Amen.

Proteus and Martha.

Dear Papa,
It's been a year since you left us, our hearts are still broken. But because you were once here, we are completely filled with your love. In our hearts you hold a place no one can ever fill. We'll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace. If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. You will always be missed. Rest in perfect peace until we meet again.

Pa Okala, it is very hard to believe that you are no longer with us, but we find solace in the fact that you are in a better place, where there is no pain. It was a pleasure knowing you papa, from the time we first met in 2003 to when we last saw you before you went home to rest with your maker, you treated me and eventually my husband and kids like we were yours. We thank you for your advice, prayers and smiles that were always available for anyone of us who was willing to take them even at those last moments you spent with us. Papa you will forever be in our thoughts and hearts as we celebrate your life. Rest in peace papa, we love you but God loves you most. Ernestine and Charles Besong

Papa Okala, you opened your arms with love and tenderness to recieve my friend Dr. Enowmbi Emmanuel as your son-in-law and blessed the entire family during your stay with them for before returning to Cameroon to bide farewell to your friends and family who will also miss you.
You were there to make sure that Papa's daughter(Antoinette) & family were all fine & should enjoy the most of your last days as you listened to the calling of our Lord and followed his instructions carefully to return home as your days were drawing near.
Papa Okala, You had the fear of God, so too could He speak to you directly and you understand His instructions. May your entire family follow your footsteps in the Lord and turn to Him at the cross roads of their life.
Papa Okala, may your soul have eternal rest as you join in company with Christ who died and now lives in heaven where all tears are wiped away.

One cannot begin to imagine the hurt you guys are going through right now. One is never ready nor too old to be gone, nor are those left behind ever willing to readily let go, no matter how prepared we think we might be.
just the thought of not seeing them again is so painful, but find joy and consolation in the fact that they have gone ahead to a better place.
Accept my condolence,- you and your entire family.

Dear Papa, Your gentle way of speaking and encouragement will always be remembered. I still remember the conversation I had with you and Mama a few weeks before leaving for home. You were loved, you will be missed by many but the memories and foot prints you shared with everyone who came in contact with you during your life on this earth will last forever. Rest in peace.

Dear Pa Okala family. Death still brings with it pain and sadness to God's children. When God created Adam and Eve, his perfect was for them and their generation to live forever in fellowship with him. But he warned them that if they disobeyed him, they would die. When they disobeyed, their proud rebellion disrupted their fellowship with God and let death into their world. (Genesis 2:15-3:24). Since their fall, all humans have contended with the triple curse of sin, death, and separation from God. Jesus assured us in (John 5:24) " Whoever hears what I say and believes in the One who sent me has eternal life. That person ( Pa Okala) will not be judged guilty but has already left death and entered life". Pa has left this life and is with Christ which is much better ( Phillipians 1:21-23)". Everybody in this forum be born again now to follow Pa's steps as it is never too late.

I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love. So our father In-law is with us in everything we continue to do. We loved you but God call has taken you away from us. May the almighty God continue to guide and give strength to my friend, the wife and the kids.

No one can ever replaced our dad. The death of a love one brings terrible anguish, for my heart is filled with pain and loss. I yearn for the sight, smell, voice and feeling of my dad ever since he passed. It is almost impossible to farthom that he is no longer here. However, i believe that beyond our death we will find something similar but far greater than we can imagine. God's love welcomes us like a warm blanket, wrapping us up to support, protect and comfort us in eternal joy. Death is only a passage into a larger loving family. Dad, as you transition into your new loving family, i will always savored those moments we spent together. Although I will miss your laugh, the funny times, the times we argued and your advice, one thing i know for a fact is that you are free from all your pains and i'm very proud of your accomplishments. God wanted you now, God set you free. Adieu, mon commissaire!!
