Alice Zelota Compton Berry, 89, a resident of Granville County and a former resident of Orange County passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.
She was a native of Orange County, the daughter of the late William Frank Compton and Eula Carrie Vanhook. She attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Cedar Grove, N.C. and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Friday, April 7, 2017 in the Eakes Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor by Rev. Jonathan Barbee. Burial will be in Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hurdle Mills, N.C.
Surviving are four daughters, Carolyn Berry of Greensboro, Shirley B. Outland (Carl) of Creedmoor, Sue B. Beasley (Cliff) of Butner and Becky B. Bailey of Durham; two sons, Charles Berry III (Donna) of Bahama, William “Frank” Berry of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Frances C. McDaniel of Lexington, S.C.; and a brother, Oscar A. Compton of Cedar Grove; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and two very special friends, Nell Ray of Durham and Lillie Mae Davis of Creedmoor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eli Berry, Jr., a daughter, Alice Berry and two sisters.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 from 10:30 to 12:00 Noon at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Cliff Beasley.
