Her Life
September 24, 2013

Ann was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky, where she lived with her parents and older sister, Debbie.  She moved to Detroit, Michigan with her family at age 5, where she lived with her parents, three sisters, and brother.  When Ann was 15 her family moved to Harlan County, Kentucky, where her parents were born and raised and where her father had taken a job in the coal mines.  At age 17 Ann graduated from James A Cawood High School and joined the Air Force where she worked in aircrew life support.  Her first duty station was Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY, where she lived for several years.  She later transferred to Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS.  She retired from the Air Force in 1993 and settled down in the town of D'Iberville, MS, near Biloxi.  She was devoutly religious, was active in her local church, performed street and prison ministry, and was a talented gospel singer.  She had a lifelong passion for helping animals, and kept dog and cat food in her truck to feed any strays she came across.  She spent a lot of time with friends and family, and lived life to the fullest.  She was single, and had no children.  Ann became suddenly ill with H1N1 in September of 2009, and died two weeks later in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Gulfport, Missisippi.  She was buried in Evarts Memorial Gardens in Evarts, Kentucky, where her grandparents and aunt are buried.  She is missed by all who knew her, and her family has never been the same since she passed.
