Obituary

HOUSTON – Ann Richmond Dye, 69, died peacefully on July 28, 2015 surrounded by her family.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, August 7 at Houston National Cemetery.

Ann was born on September 24, 1945 to Nora and Stephen Dixon in Bridlington, England, just over a month after VJ Day.  She was the oldest of three children. She and her family moved to Peru in 1955. Ann attended boarding school in England, but later returned to Peru to attend high school. She attended San Silvestre in Lima and graduated in 1959. She met and later married, James Hawkes Dye in April of 1964.  They remained married for almost 34 years until Jim passed away in 1997. After they were married, Ann and Jim moved to Ogden, Utah, where their first son, James Stephen, was born. They moved to Grants, New Mexico and Eagle Mountain, California, where their second child, Kevin Hawkes, was born in 1967. Ann and Jim's journey led them back to Porto San Juan de Marcona, Peru, where they welcomed twins, Catherine Jill and Christine Grace in February of 1969. They returned to America in 1970, where their fifth child, Stephanie Richmond was born in Los Alamitos, California in May of 1970. Ann and Jim lived briefly in Seattle, Denver and Breckenridge, Texas before settling in Conroe, Texas. Ann and Jim moved to Houston, Texas in 1986, where she continued her work as a travel agent. Throughout her career, Ann worked for a variety of agencies including her parent’s agency in The Woodlands and American Express Travel. She loved to read, complete the daily crossword puzzle and play bridge with her friends.

Mrs. Dye was preceded in death by her father and her husband of 33 years.

Survivors include her mother; sons, James Dye and wife, Jenny of Charlotte, NC, Kevin Dye of Dallas, TX; daughters, Catherine Dye, Christine Dye, and Stephanie Pollock and her husband Seeten, all of Houston; sister, Gillian Goldsworthy and her husband Don of Melbourne, Australia; brother, Paul Dixon and his wife Andu of York, England; grandchildren, Darbi and Demi Dye, Bridget and Jackson Dye, and Alexander and Grace Pollock; great-grandchild, Kayden O’Neill; uncle, Frank Dixon of York, England. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
