ForeverMissed

Art's celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 16th in Portland, Oregon at the Portland Art Museum at 2 pm.

In June of 2012, Art was diagnosed with Cushings Disease and stage four Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma shortly after. As you can imagine, this was all very overwhelming to him and his family. He chose to keep his condition private and received a lot of support from his children and a select few.

Although his illness progressed quickly, he had first class medical care and fought as hard as he could. In the end he claimed to be in peace, to have no fear, and could not recall one regret in his life. He was by the side of close family including his five children: Jenna, Natalia, Renata, Salvatore, and Lorenzo.

In lieu of flowers, Art would have liked for donations to be sent to two places of his choice: The Oregon Symphony and/or University of Michigan, The Adrenal Cancer Foundation.

Karen DuBose is making this tribute to Art and his family. We were instant friends at Camelback High School; I coached Art not to wear a tie and bring a black briefcase his first day. Art was the Spirit at Camelback HS, his quick humor unmatched, and never at anyone's expense. His tireless energy and cheers at our footfall games were pure joy. Art was Homecoming King! I loved him so.

To everyone who loved and respected Art, I attended high school with him. He touched our lives as he shared his time, energy, talent and good nature with us. He preserved our memories with the photos he took for our yearbook. He was our Homecoming King and our friend. We miss him but he always has and always will inspire us with the example he set. -Tim Barnett CHS Class of 1973

To Natalia, Jenna, Renata,Sal, and Lorenzo and family,

I'm very sorry for your loss. You don't need me to tell you how much your Dad was loved and respected, but I am going to anyway. I will miss his steady hand, brilliant ideas, and his kind advice. Your Dad will always be remembered and always be missed. Billy Grippo
