Pastor Olubankole Omotayo Olubamise, an indigene of Ipetu-Ijesha, Osun State was born on the 14 July 1969 in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

He met with the Lord Jesus at a very early stage and remained with Him all his life without wavering. After 12 years training he was released into full time ministry. He, with his wife, Ibironke, founded the Lakeside International Christian Ministries, a.k.a Compassion House Christian Centre based in Abuja. He was an active member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship and a member of the Throne Room Trust Ministries.

Pastor Bankole pioneered many initiatives including the Purposeful Leadership and Development Programme (PLEAD); Sarah Shall Laugh monthly prayer meeting; Success Seminar for Budding Entrepreneurs and the Global Youth Leadership Programme. Through these programmes, he touched many lives with tangible evidence.

To his children, Jesulayomi and Jesutomilade, he was a loving, caring and disciplinarian father who believed and acted the saying “spare the rod and spoil the child”. His daughter thinks he was the best dad in the whole world. His bond to his son earned the son the position of the vice president in the family.

To his wife, he was the openly bold but inwardly soft husband who will stop at nothing to ensure her safety, comfort and trust to his own detriment. Many people think they only just got married whenever they come close and see the way they behaved as a couple.

Academically, Pastor Bankole had a First Degree and two Masters Degrees. He became a doctoral student at the University of Liverpool shortly before his demise.

Pastor Bankole was a widely travelled time tested leader, author, conference speaker and consultant to government and other agencies in Nigeria. He was the co-founder of an internet based network on cybercrime, Africa Information Security Association (AISA).

In a career spanning almost 20 years within the civil society sector, he helped to propagate good governance in Nigeria and Africa; initiated and designed projects that promote democratic values, from local to state and federal levels of governance in Nigeria and attended various local and international meetings.

He collaborated with Jidaw Systems to host the first African Information Security Conference in March 2006. He was the Executive Consultant at Development Information Network (DevNet).

He researched, published books and papers and facilitated meetings in virtually all the states in Nigeria on different aspects of democratic governance since 1994. He was a member of the Nigerian National Committee on ICT4D Strategic Plan Development. 

Olubankole Omotayo Olubamise born July 14th 1969 in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, but was a native of Ipetu Ijesa in Osun State, Nigeria.

He attended Amoye Grammar School, Ikere Ekiti graduating in 1985; University of Maiduguri (BLS) Library Science 1991; University of Lagos,  (Msc) Sociology, 1994; Birmingham City University (MA/PGD) Information and Library Studies, 1996; University of Central England (MA/PGD) Information and Library Studies, 2006; Certificate and Advanced Certificate in Leadership Education, Daystar Leadership Academy, 2005; and enroleld for a Phd programme in Sociology od Development, University of Abuja in 2009.

He is best known as the Executive Director, Development Information Network, since 2004. Before then, he was the Programmes Coordinator of the Legal Research and Resource Development Centre between August 1992 –December 2003; and did the National Youth Service in the Rivers State Library Board-September 1991 – July 1992

He has contributed immensely to the growth of the ICT Sector in Nigeria. He is author of 7 Books and numerous contributions to Publications on ICT, Human Rights, Foreign Investment and Trade Policy, Democracy and Development. Bankole led Nigeria’s Civil Society Delegation to the 2005 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).

He facilitated and produced  an ICT television programme “i-Society” for two years on national television. He is a National Resource person on ICT for Human Resource Development.

He is member of the National ICT4D Strategy Development and Implementation Committee and a member of the National Software Policy Development Committee.

A born again christian, he Pastors Lakeside Ministries, an Abuja based church.

Bankole Olubamise was married to Ibironke Favour Olubamise (Nee Odetundun)  National Coordinator, UNDP Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Project; and the marriage is blessed with a son Jesulayomi Olubamise and a daughter Jesutomilade Olubamise
