Carl Eugene Chipman, 75, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Thursday July 9, 2015. He was born in Willard, OH and lived in Flint, Ml until 1945 when the family purchased a farm On East Newburg Road in Durand, MI where he learned farming and continued working it weekends until the late '70s. He graduated from Durand High School m 1958 and Nashville Auto Diesel College in 1960. He worked as a journeyman cutter-grinder at the Chevy V-8 Engine Plant in Flint for 30 years, and retired to Florida in 1993. He was a Lifetime member of North Newburg Lodge of Masons, a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. Carl loved boating and served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxilary For 36 years promoting safe boating but teaching classes and doing safety inspections.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Frank A. and Ruth E. (Simons) Chipman, and brother Daniel Chipman. Survived by wife of 52 years, Marianne E. (Cowles) Chipman of Punta Gorda, FL; three daughters: Lonanne (Brian) Mickle of West Chester, OH, Joellen Bruce of Flint, Ml, Tammi (Gordon) Fincannon of West Bloomfield, Ml; six grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jesse) Boomsliter, Alexander Mickle, Jessica Bruce, Julianne Mickle, Samantha Fincannon, Joshua Fincannon; and two great-grandchildren, Liam Francis and Charlotte Belle Boomsliter.
