Carol Farmer, 83, a resident of Southgate, Kentucky, died of cancer on February 10, 2016.  Carol was the daughter of Thomas Alexander Benson and Luvada Moncrief Benson.  Carol's grandparents were James McCree Benson and Amanda Cathleen Benson.
 
Carol grew up on a farm near Hickman, Kentucky and attended Berea College, graduating in 1953 with a degree in Nursing.  She worked as a nurse for 9 years at hospitals in Kentucky, Virginia, and Ohio.  After moving to Southgate, Carol worked as a nurse for 31 years at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas (now St. Elizabeth Hospital) until her retirement in 1994.

She was preceded in death by three sisters: Olivia Marie Craddock of Bloomington, Indiana, Ola Pearl Melville of West Chester, Ohio, and Christine Arnold Hook of Maysville, Kentucky.  She leaves a sister Laura Mae Croan in Fort Scott, Kansas, and three sons: Bob and Steve of Southgate Kentucky, and Greg (Lisa) of Ladera Ranch, California.

In accordance with her wishes, Carol's body has been cremated.  A memorial is being planned for Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22, 2016 in Lexington, Kentucky.
