Clark Robbins Williams, Jr. was born on October 24, 1946 to Clark R. Williams Sr. and Madelaine B. Williams in Birmingham, Alabama and died November 29, 2015 at his home following a long illness. He married Sherry Dixon Williams on January 14th, 1973 after knowing each other seven weeks. Clark enjoyed two wonderful career fields. He went to work for the Birmingham Humane Society in 1978 and from there was Director of Animal Control in Amarillo, Texas and Director of the Humane Society of Collier County in Naples, Florida. Upon moving to Georgia in 1984, he worked as Asst. Director of Animal Control in Fulton County. Deciding to leave Animal Welfare, he was encouraged to enter real estate and went into appraising. Moving to Heard County in 1988, he started appraising for The Bank of Heard County and later The First Georgia Banking Company. His daughter Maggie joined him as an appraiser while in College and together they appraised many homes in the County and met many wonderful families. While living in Heard County he served the people in many different areas. He was a former Franklin City Councilman, member of Tax Assessors Review Board, and also a member of the Zone and Planning Commission. Many improvements were made do to his diligent work in these jobs. His real love and something he looked forward to was his weekly game of golf with his friends, Donald Rogers and Talmadge Davis and whoever they could get to play with them in the fourth slot. He especially enjoyed sharing Talmadge's fried pies each week that Jackie made and he packed in his lunch for the game. Ms. Jackie soon learned to just put an extra one in Talmadge's lunch for Clark, and she has continued thru the years to bring Clark fried pies, leaving them at his bedside. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. Prior to his death he was so happy to get to meet and hold Robb and Brooke's son, his great grandson, Gage Alexander Williams!
Clark enjoyed life and the people who were in it so very much. He enjoyed his years in the Franklin United Methodist Church choir and singing solos when they let him do so. His unique personality was annoying to some and enjoyed by others. His joy was to try to entertain whoever he was with at the moment with his stories and opinions. The family is especially grateful to his very dear friend, Donald Rogers who has spent many hours at his bedside the last years, sharing the news of Franklin with him which Clark enjoyed more than anything. The people of Heard County will forever be indebted to “Mr. Clark” for his great contribution to the community, and his willingness to stand for what he felt would be best for the whole of the population. His quick wit will especially be missed.
He is survived his wife, Sherry Williams; daughters, Maggie Williams (Roderick Bonner), and Claudia Williams; son, Robb Williams (Brooke Harris);great-grandson, Gage Williams; nephew, David A. Outland; niece Madeline Outland McCrorie; and great-nephews, Harrison and Ryan McCrorie; and his beloved cousins that he was especially fond of.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Madeline and Clark Williams, Sr.; and his beloved sister and best friend, Kay Williams Outland.
